My fishing club was on Maple Lake this weekend. My partner and I went on Sunday. WE mainly targeted Largemouth and caught 23 that were over 13 inches. Most of our fish were 15-16″. and the presentation that worked the best for us was throwing Senko’s to Pencil reed edges and into the Pencil reeds. Along one small stretch we had 10 casts and had 10 fish ON. most were landed and some got off.
Bluegills were all over and extremely easy to catch. It was easy to find shoreline bedding areas, and the BG were of very good size, with quite a few over 8 inches. what worked best for me, was a Flu-FLu under a slip bobber with a waxie.
A couple of club boats did well on Saturday under docks for LM, and good fish were also caught in 5-7 foot depths on Senko’s.
One boat on Saturday witnessed an over 10 pound Walleye caught under a bobber with a sucker minnow just south of the Channel, that fish was released.
the next week or two the bigger fish should start showing up.
