    Hey Guys and Girls,

I will be down in Worthington MN next weekend and was thinking about getting out on a local lake down there called Okabena.

Has anyone ever fished this lake? if so, any recent reports, tips, spots, that you can share?

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

I’ve fished this lake several times. The fish are sometimes pretty picky. Whenever I fish this lake, I just troll shad raps. Bright colors seem to work best for me, but some others use the duller colors and have good results. In front of the swimming beach to the music dome; and along the east side are the two spots I would try. There are several holes on the lake that come from dredging. Last time I was on the lake, I was done fishing and reeling my lines in, I just happened to be over one of the holes and my locater showed all kinds of fish on and near the bottom. Not sure what they were, but maybe worth checking out. I was out of time and didn’t get the chance. Our fishing leage fished there last week and ended up catching around 45 walleyes over 14″ in 3 hours.

    Hey Chad,

    Thanks for the tips.

Any live bait rigs that you use out there? Also, last week, what depths were most productive ( is the lake very deep? )

    Thanks again Sirchad

I’ve never used live bait on this lake. Don’t really know anyone that does, but I do see people using it. Most people that I know troll raps because covering water is the key on this lake. Most of the lake is 5-7′ deep with a few deeper holes where the dredging took place. I think the deepest spot is about 13′. This is a pretty small area (acre or so) and is located near the outlet. One more tip, don’t be afraid to troll fast on this lake. I get alot of fish trolling between 3 and 3.7 mph. During our league last week, my boat caught our fishing going 3.4 mph.
