Ice out…what’s happening in your area?

Last Year’s ice out dates for some metro lakes are creeping up on us. The MN DNR reported ice out on Forest and Calhoun on 4/6, and WBL and Minnetonka on 4/9. Minnewaska and Osakis also reported ice out on 4/9. Our current warmth and sun should start to do the trick. What’s happening in your neck of the woods? Who’s ready for some ice-out pannies????

With todays wind and warmth I would be suprised to see any ice in the west Metro come tommorow. It was starting to break up this AM.

they were driving on vermillion this weekend, but i doubt it this coming weekend. pretty sure the water skips are over for the year.(trout lake portage) but then again last wed, my brother and i fished “whisper lake” and had over a foot of ice…. most of the lakes up here are just opening up along the shore, nothing you couldnt jump across, and drill a hole through.. except silver, but i wont bring that up again…………………………………………..

KSTP channel 5 showed boats on ‘Tonka today on their 6:00 PM news. They were in open water, and prop-washing the edge of some ice. It only looked about 2-3 inches thick. One of the boats looked to be the Sheriff rig.

I’m looking forward to being on the water this weekend!

I’ll be driving through Tonka tonight on my way home from work. I’ll post an update later. I’m hoping to start chasing the panfish shortly.

No boats on Tonka except in the marina’s that ran areaotors all year. The north shore has about 12 feet of water, then ice all the way around it. There are a few patches of open water in some areas. Shouldn’t be long.

Did see one boat trying to break the ice by the Mound landing. Looked to be a 12 foot boat with one guy. He wasn’t making much progress.

All ice off south metro lakes, prior lake, spring, fish, carls, cedar(new prague, though I suspect the other one is clear too), sheilds, masaska, circle, marion, crystal (i’m assuming but again I’m fairly certain)
