I am contemplating a trp up there to camp/fish on Memorial day weekend. Should I go, or volunteer to work and plan on a weekend a week or two later?

I have been there a few times, and if you decide to go on memorial weekend, I would get up there by about thursday, and maybe if you are lucky and planning on camping on an island, you will get a nice spot!!! If you have never been there the two islands I would recommend would be Wolf Pack, or My Island, They both have nice sandy beaches for easy boat landing!!

    just my 2 cents!!

Namakan could still be a little slow yet that time of year. When we go to Kabe we usually go the last week of May or first week of June, depends when ice out is . Better weather and results seem to be that time frame. Walleyes will come in shallow in evenings. Shoreline shallow. FF

Fish, since you are now located in Dalute. I would go both weekends . Memorial day is nice cause of the 3 day weekend, but the crowd will be an issue perhaps (depending on weather). Fish are shallow that time of year, look for South Facing bays where they can get some warmer water. Casting HJ’s to shallow shorelines would be the ticket for Eyes.

Also I think Sandpoint and Crane would be a better bet Early in the year. Try the narrows (King Williams?) between the two and read the Literature you picked up from me last year about those areas.

i would go later when its a little warmer.. go to late though and get eaten alive by misquitos..i like to stay at steakhouse point, just after the narrows.. i have had much success fishing there in mid july with a jigs n leeches for walleyes around the rocks that stick out of the water..lots of luck with topwaters in the pads and in the channels for smallmouth and northern..good luck
