I have been going to Kab for seven years the weekend after opener. Fishing is usually pretty good, the weather has been not as good (snow, 30+ MPH winds). About nine of us stay at Four Winds Resort, very good service(dock and fish cleaning). We usually fish around Martin Island.

    Good luck

I forget the other fella’s name that inquired about Kab not too long ago, but I helped him with some info and I’d be glad to help you, too! Probably my favorite lake in the world to fish! Shoot me a PM and I’ll give ya all the juicy details. For now I’ll just say that I have had days in Tom Cod Bay,in the spring, when I caught so many walleyes that I thought my arms would fall off! Give me a shout and I’ll give ya the specifics.

Actually, the 4th. can be a great time to go IF it doesn’t coincide with the mayfly hatch. Unfortunately, the past 3 years it has. However, if the hatch is all done by the 4th., the larger walleye are in very predictable areas around mud/rock transition areas during the day and up on shallow rock towards evening….and overcast days with wind.

Sorry, Rocky, that you had to witness the hatch firsthand. But, it makes the good times feel that much better.

The Bittersweet Island down by Woodenfrogg landing is great that time of year. My best area is the nw side and south side of the island. Up close to shore in the evenings..
Also windswept shorelines are a definate on Kabe if you havent been there much. Chief Wooden Frog Island and Cherry Nose are great for this pitching to shore and jigging back . FISHINFOOL
