After a year away from one of my favorite bass lake in Eastern Wisconsin, I finally got the chance to fish it this Saturday. You know how a lake can become an old friend, especially as time goes by the more you fish them the more stories you have. This time of year the bass really turn on, with good conditions its not unusual to hit over 40 fish!

Saturday was especially fun as I finally rousted my teanager out of the sack and got him to go along. After hearing my “stories” he was especially interested in what a great day of largemouth fishing was all about.

With the mild condiditions and minimal wind we got on the water with high hopes. Started off with the usual jigs, worms, etc. As the action was scarce we switched up to pitching light tubes under and around docks. That was the ticket, most docks held several fish, after establishing the bite was on I sat back and let my son get after um. As the day went on, he just kept saying how much fun he was having. It was especially fun listening to him brag himself up as he talked with his buddies on our drive home.

After 15 years looks like my old lake still holds some pretty nice fish! Its especially gratifying to pass the torch.

did you ever try spinners or swim jigs?? fast moving baits will put out more than plastics this time of year…Maybe your lake hasnt REALLY heated up like the river has…We have been doubling the normal results by chucking spinners and swim jigs…just a thought.. Give it a shot and you might be impressed!
