Just got back from our 4th of July weekend, the gills were ready and willing to do some drag smoking. The day bite was poor but in the evening before dark they went nuts. Some of these slobs busted the 9 in mark, one thing I noticed is that the gills did not like the windy conditions and they also wanted to be near sand instead of weeds.

Where did you catch them and what techniques worked for you? Thanks, Bill

Sorry Billy, I was in Grand Rapids MN. The best bet was small jig or colored hook under a bobber tipped with waxies, leeches, or baby crawlers and of course they bite much better with bait from Hooked On Fishing. Had a tough time getting the wife to go in, she kept saying just one more fish and then we can go in. Keep moving till you find fish.

Thanks Joey. When you are lucky enough to have a wife who loves to fish and doesn’t want to go in ”never” complain cause most guys have the opposite problem. She sounds like a keeper to me.
    Thanks, Bill
