Here is a picture of a Bass that was caught at a friends cabin up North. My friend Greg is holding the fish! I believe that the fish was caught by his Nephew in the pic. Not sure on the details but that be one big Bass !

Any of you Bass guys care to guess the weight. They did not have a scale. They were guessing around 7 lbs. They took some pics at tshore and released he back to the blue!

It looks to be at LEAST 7lbs! Look at the gut on that thing!

    Nice fish, thanks for sharing!

It doesn’t look that long to me, I’d guess 6, 6.5 tops.

    It is FAT though.

No way that fish is 7lbs. It might hit the scales at 6, maybe. I always find it funny what people would “guess” a fish weighs. Also, one must consider how rare a 7lb fish, or a 6lb’er is for that matter. Take a look at any of the tourney circuts here in Minnesota, check the big fish for each tourney. Seldom does anything get weighed much over 5lb. And these are guys who know what they are doing and the lakes and rivers they are fishing quite well.

Moral of the story…. I believe no fish story from anyone without lengths of fish, and if it truly is a monster, you better have a girth measurement too.

i think that people who catch the biggest fish (bass) are the ones who really dont know much about the game though..Maybe this guy is a big time pro or something…but the guys that seem to get the biggest fish are getting lucky- with a nightcrawler or a 8 inch shiner..If anybody reads bassmaster and you look in the back at the photo thingys, most of the big bass are taken on a shiner or some other type of live bait…
Just a thought..Maybe it is only 6 #s, but it is still an awesome looking fish!

    Nice job

I’m terrible for guessing weights of bass (I thought my 5.5lb bass was about 3lbs……..)

………But that baby is a HOG!!!!!

Bass vary so much with their weight/girth/length that it would be hard to guess.

    BUT!!!

    Being the kid caught it!!!
I would get a replica of 7lbs made for him!!!!!!!!

I do know that my buddy and his Family catch largies like that from this lake on a regualr basis. This fish was the 2nd one of that magnitude from the weekend. My buddies brother (the kid in the pics Dad) caught another one just like this one the day before. What a father son combo huh !. They have a spot on the lake they call the “secret spot” that produces these Bass regularly. Just usually a little smaller.

    Thanks for your input guys!

    Rob:

If the spot is that good, they should drop 20 bucks on a cheap Berkely scale at least.

That spot is that good, but they do not get into fishing all that much. Greg fishes only a half dozen times a year or so. Maybe I will give him one of mine !
