I saw the first open water on East Bearskin since November today. It was beautiful. It was only a section 10 feet by 30 feet but it’s a start. The ice is starting to pull away from the shore now and there’s only about a foot of snow on the north facing slopes and in the shaded areas. Great time to go shed hunting. It’s a sure bet that we won’t be drilling holes in the ice this opener on the Gunflint Trail.

    Hey gunflint !!

Man it’s been years but East Bearskin was one of the last lakes we fished before finally pulling the plug on the BWCA. It sure is beautiful up there. If you ever get a few pictures taken I’d sure like to see them.

thanks for resurecting some great memories
