Albert lea lake is just coming out of a massive winter kill. Fry were just restocked so it will be two years before they are keeper size. Fountain lake is your best bet for walleyes and the bite has been good lately.

Call Mark at “The DAM Bait Shop” The DAM Bait Shop webpage link He gets many reports and has been very busy.

Check out his facebook page as well. Many of his customers are posting their catches of Northern Pike, Catfish, Crappies, Bluegills, Largemouth Bass, Walleye’s and more.

Yes, Fountain Lake is where most of the action is, but reports of Albert Lea Lake being very clear now and lots of life around and in it.

    Good Luck

Yes Albert Lea is very clear right now. I have had secchi disk readings consistently on the bottom of the lake since this spring. I guess thats what happens when mother nature/commercial fishermen remove hundreds of thousands of pounds of Common Carp.

Fountain is also very clear right now. Tuesday I had a reading of 5.8 ft. Amazing for that lake. I really think the water quality projects are paying off for our area lakes!

Last reports I saw from the DAM Bait Shop is fishing has been pretty good on Fountain Lake.

Yes, like many metro lakes, Fountain is NO WAKE.
    Seems fishing has gotten better.

This Spring the State Legislature approved 7.5 million in Bonding to go along with their 50% match in funds to get their Dredging project underway. Plans are being made and they bought a dredge 2-years ago, so they’re ready to go when plans are completed & approved.

The Shell Rock River Watershed Board has been working hard over the past several years on projects to cut erosion and sediment from getting to Fountain Lake. The reports on water clarity this spring are showing some results.

The Future for Fountain Lake is looking up.
