Only kind I know is to strip down and go in after it. My buddy is still laughing from last fall when my bare *ss was the only thing sticking out of the water while I was trying to get my lure out of the rocks

I use two types for river fishing.Cabelas makes a extendable one and I have an older one not made anymore that consists of string with a weight 2 lbs with a spiral coil on it.If neither works we use a 10 pound anchor.

get the one with chains, I’ve tried others and would not consider any other type. Yes, it will mean treble replacements but, It’s by far the easiest unit to work. I have my on a retractable (round cord ) 30′ dog leash

Tried one of the lure retriever poles years ago. Not worth a darn in water much deeper than 5′. Just to hard to get the pole to follow the line down to the lure in deeper water. By yourself, in the wind or current and trying to position the boat to? Forget about it.

Think I would try one on a rope before going for the pole type.

Fleet Farm had one for $30 that was 17 boot lengths, and had a twist on the top. Telescoping at about 3′ intervals and looked nice. Thinking of current flow though how would one get it down there, do you thread the top onto the line to follow it down? A lot of money for something that may not work like Mike said.

Just make your own. 2lb cannon ball weight, 2-one foot pieces of dog chain, 1-large heavy duty splitting, musky size snap swivel, 50ft parachute cord. Cannon ball weight will have a brass eye, thread chain and swivel on split ring
, tie cord to split ring. It works best to be directly over snagged lure.

Everts has one left in stock. It’s under $20. and the two guys that bought them that I’ve talked with say they work very well.

I’ve never used one personally. My two cents.
