As the subject line says, I am looking to get a cabin 1st 2nd week of Sept. Taking my teen age girls with that are rough water sensitive what lake would be the best balance between fishing and calm water?

Never been on any of them and not looking for specific fish.

You should look into renting a house boat instead of a cabin. Just an Idea.

Crane and the connecting waters make it easy to hide out of the wind. Doesn’t get too rough because of the smaller lakes also.

If hiding from the wind is the main concern then I agree with Crane. However, I wouldn’t look past the option of the Ash River Trail resorts. The Ash River connects with both Kabetogama and Namakin. Namakin is easy to hide in also.

I cant speak for Crane, but most of the cabins on Kabe are across some big water from the common fishing spots.

Vermilion is easy to avoid big water, all bays and islands. Many people still fish it with 14′ boats without any issues.
