FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Fishing Hall of Fame of Minnesota announces new website and inductees October 1, 2012… In August, the Fishing Hall of Fame of Minnesota voted to select its newest inductees. Current members of the Hall of Fame cast confidential ballots, recognizing nominees who demonstrated both excellence in the sport and a remarkable contribution to the sport fishing community. The voting is now complete, and the 2011/12 Hall of Fame inductees are Dave Csanda, James Lindner, Dan Sura and Jeff Arnold. There are also two new corporate inductees, namely Rapala and Outdoor News.
Csanda, Lindner and Sura are all recognized for their contributions as fishing educators, communicators and media personalities. All were critical in the success of In-Fisherman magazine and television, as well as communications from Lindner Media Productions, producers of the popular Angling Edge television series. Arnold is recognized for his achievements as a fishing promoter and retailer, and is the owner of the now iconic Reeds Sporting Goods of Walker, MN.
Rapala, arguably the most famous fishing lure of all time, earned a corporate induction. Although from Finland, it was a Minnesota business that introduced the brand to the
world. Outdoor News was also inducted for their journalistic excellence and dedication to Minnesota fishing.
As Hall of Famers, the inductees’ images and biographies will appear on the Fishing Hall of Fame of Minnesota’s newly launched website (www.FishingHallofFameMN.com). In
addition to showcasing Hall of Famers, the site also includes information about Minnesota fishing and related current events. Interactive “Master Angler” and “Braggin’
Board” sections allow visitors to show off their catches.
The Braggin’ Board functions as a direct link to the Hall’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/FishingHallofFameMN) where
angling enthusiasts can socialize with the organization and one another. Visitors to the new website are encouraged to visit often for updated content; to explore “Friends of the
Hall” links; and to support the 501c3 non-profit Hall with tax-deductible contributions.
In addition to being featured online, all inductees will be honored in a traveling Hall of Fame that’s in development and will visit sport shows, fairs, schools and other venues
where the organization can help promote Minnesota fishing. An official Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place sometime in early 2013, with details available soon.
The Fishing Hall of Fame of Minnesota conducts nominations, elections and inductions annually. To qualify for nomination, a candidate must be over 50 years of age and a
resident of Minnesota for at least 25 years. Additionally, nominees must receive the recommendation of a current Hall of Fame member. Prior to voting, evaluations of nominees are comprehensive, giving proper consideration to their legacy as a whole.
The organization is committed to supporting, preserving and recognizing the state’s fishing community, promoting a continued appreciation of the sport and its rich heritage.
