Headed to Swan Lake for the week with the family. Never fished Swan before nor have we ever fished the Grand Rapids area so it should be interesting and fun learning a new lake. Anyone know of place where a guy can get a good burger and a cold beer up there? Have a safe weekend!

Either Mr. Roberts or head to the neighboring Town of Coleraine and grad a burger at the Lockerroom Bar. The walleye bite on Trout Lake in Coleraine has been pretty decent as of late and the panfish bite has turned on a bit with the hot weather in Ryberg Bay too!!!

Anyone ever try ice fishing out there for walleyes? I live on the east range and looking for a decent walleye lake other than vermilion. IS there an ice road off the landing at all? Thanks!

I fished it quite a bit when I lived up in Hibbing. I had some good days ice fishing the breaks on the west side of the main lake. There really is not mid lake structure so I concentrated on breaks or weeds earlier in the season. The bay where the boat landing is by the bridge provides some good fishing for pike and pan fish. It might be good walleye fishing in there too since there is weeds but never really tried in there for walters.

I’m told there are walleye in there. I can’t confirm that despite my best efforts last summer.

If you make it into Grand Rapids, please check out MADDENS DUTCH ROOM, it’s a bar and restaurant, and is owned by some very good friends of mine, who are all about the outdoor life, and simply just good people. Tell them Tonka sent you and they’ll make sure to take care of you. The food is awesome, and the people there are just as awesome. It’s got new ownership as of late, my friends bought the business from the grandparents who have owned it for a lifetime, so it’s still in the family.

Assuming they haven’t changed anything Tonka, the food and atmosphere is great!

Wade, I’m pretty sure it’s still the same old Dutch Room, nothing fancy by any means, it’s a blue collar place with with friendly people…I have to say I haven’t made it there in a while, but the annual PERCH JERK is coming up March 14th with is put on by the Dutch Room. Jech84 let us know what you ended up doing, the lockeroom is another good alternative. Have a good trip.

If your family is closer to Hibbing I can recommend a great wing and burger place. If they are closer to Rapids check out Florios in Cohassett as well.
