How is the fishing there? Going to be staying at a cabin up there and have never been to the lake. Any tips?

Burntside can be a challenging lake to fish. You should be able to find plenty of smallmouth bass action but the walleyes can be very elusive. It does have lake trout in it also but never tried for them. Burntside is one of the prettier lakes I have been on and you are close to alot of other very good fishing lakes such as white iron and snowbank if you want some decent walleye action. Good luck and post up when you get back.

are u talking burntside lake in st. louis county mn? if so i have ice fished this lake and fish in the area a bunch in the summer but never been on a boat on this lake. there are nice lake trout in this lake…one of the 2 best lakes in the area. also has nice walleye and big pike but the toughest part about this lake is the extreme depths of the lake. this lake gets to be about 180 ft deep and u can be 15yards off shore from an island in 100+ ft of water. i don’t fish a lot of lakes like this but if done right it does produce big fish. this is the MOST beautiful are in the world so i’m sure u will enjoy your trip. other good lakes in the area are white iron, shagawa, fall. hope some of this info helps and send me a pm if u need more.

    Northern Pike
    Rainbow Smelt
    Rock Bass
    Shorthead Redhorse

It’s been stocked with lake trout and walleye. You might want to participate in the trip planning forums on http://www.bwcaboard.com
