Hey now, Tampa lost to the Sens!

Bruce is right, those are the games you need to win. Go back to the Lemaire defensive days.

He didn’t make the trip so scratched the next 2 games too…

I think someone should start calling him the fat kid.

Stalock gets the heart pumping when he is in net. You guys see him go for a skate and shoot the puck into the wild bench from about 5 feet inside the blue line? LOL
I watched the replay of the game last night and it was as awful as advertised. Rask actually has played pretty decent and that goal he got, he stole the puck and sniped it short side. That is a good sign if he can get some confidence.
Staal appears to be laboring. He should sit until he is better or gets better conditioned. Far too many penalties in that game oofdah.

BTW, Kaprisov is the youngest player in KHL history to get to 100 goals.

BTW, Kaprizov is the youngest player in KHL history to get to 100 goals.

His team (CSK) is a powerhouse again this year in the KHL and will most likely make the KHL finals going into April, so any dreams of him coming over after the KHL season is over and burning the 1st year of his NHL deal is not gonna happen…but he recently did an interview and said for sure next year he will be in the NHL…I don’t have a link to that interview so take it for what it is…the kid is a special player though that’s for sure…getting him and a potential top 5 pick in this years draft (top 5 are all considered about as surething as prospects you can get) can quickly turn this franchise in the other direction…

Yeah, they are, but that’s why they play the games because you never know what might happen, but they are certainly the odds on favorite.
I saw the translation of the interview. It was kind of interesting because the person(s) who asked questions straight up asked him what he thought of the 3 different Wild GMs since he was drafted and if he was concerned and he said “No”. He did say he hasnt been working on learning English, so that is a bit of a concern.

I would think it would be hard for a 21 year old to get motivated to learn english while still living in Russia, but once over here, he’ll be forced to learn. His agent will put him on the “How to do a NHL Interview” program so he’ll get the basics down quickly: “My teammates have helped me alot” “We just need to keep playing hard” “We just need to get more shots and play better defense” “Ok, Thank You Very Much”

We have to simplify our game
    Can’t play from behind
Everyone can do a better job including me
    Stop losing the puck battles
    Play with urgency
Put together a full 60 minute game
    Can’t take a night off
    Push back
    Find our legs
Can’t lean on our goaltender to win us every game
    Can’t take a shift off
    Stop feeling sorry for ourselves
    Need to play with swagger…

Fiala getting scratched tonight in favor of Mayhew to make his debut. Hopefully, this puts a spark into Fiala.

Breaking news. The Wild have just announced the creation and hiring for a new position Craig called the “VP of Russian Language and Cultural Transitions”. Whatever that is.

Anyway, they hired some guy called Ilya Nikolayevich Bryzgalov for the job. Never heard of him, but apparently he’s some kind of mover/shaker/braintrust in Ruskie hockey or something.

Fiala healthy scratch. Mayhew gets his debut. Donato likely replacing Fiala and Mayhew replacing Donato on the lines from last game.
Fiala is pissed, hopefully this gets a fire under him.
Admittedly, there are some vets that should be taking a seat as well.

Still can’t put the puck in the net. 3 on 1 and they can’t finish it. Parise put it right in the pad of Anderson. All he had to do was lift the puck and go just a little top shelf and it’s a goal. This stuff has got to get in Dubnyks head. He must feel like he has to pitch a shut out every time out to get a win.

The old guys were slow last season too. The team is rotten at the core. The only way things will start to improve is when MK / ZP / RS are gone.

They should have blown this team up 3 years ago.

If those 3 had any talent or trade value, you’d think they’d be begging to leave. But the fact they seem content to stay on this team is a big tell they all 3 lack a big desire to win. Yeah, we all know how talented RS is and how much heart scrappy little ZP plays with.

The defense is nowhere near as good as it should be and the offense is worse than it was thought to be.

Hard to win games when there’s not a single goal scorer on the team. This team is turtle slow and getting slower in a league that’s getting faster. Russian or no Russian, this team needs a lot to even get to the playoffs.

Highly unlikely the team gets to the playoffs, and is truly looking like .500 would be a successful season.

I guess the only positive I can see is if they stay on this pace all season we’ll be picking a potential generational prospect high in the draft who can more quickly move the needle in the positive direction and if Kaprizov comes over, it’s like getting two top picks that could make an immediate impact. This years draft is considered by many to be one of the best in a very long time…

If this bad start bleeds into the next month or so it also gives Guerin more leverage with Leopold to blow it up and shape the team the way he wants it… The more picks we have in this years loaded draft, the better…

Experts are comparing it to the 2003 draft which was a very strong draft. I forget who all of them were, but Parise and Suter were two of them. LOL

Might as well trade Dubnyk at the deadline since he’ll have the most value and a workable contract. Koivu should be a no brainer, someone could use him for depth and defense in a playoff run. Just about everyone else is untradeable because of their contracts.

The Wild should work on being relevant in 2-3 years.

We took Burns that year at #20 right after the Ducks took Getzlaf at #19 and then they took Corey Perry at #28, talk about cementing a 10 year dominance in 2 picks…3/4 of the 1st round players turned into all-stars.

some late round steals were Patrice Bergeron went #45, Pavelski went #205! Byfuglien went #245!

Agreed, move Dubs, Koivu and Foligno and then take whatever you can get for Staal, Rask and Patryn… Some will object to moving Foligno, but he will always project as a 4th liner and you can’t pay a 4th liner almost $3 million per season…

They should have blown this team up 3 years ago.

My lord, that would have been a disaster. What were you thinking. That would have left The Fletch or even worse, Fecktard Fenton in charge of the rebuild! Yeah that woulda gone well, Fletcher was bad and Fecktard Fenton was talent assessment trainwreck so between those two, we’d have become another Arizona.

I was always against the “blow it up” theory because I had zero confidence in our GMs. I literally thought Fenton was a zero from day 1, obviously Riseboro was useless and probably one of the worst GMs in history that ever had the job for more than a year. Fletcher was a C- player in an A league.

So if it has to happen, timing is everything. At least I have confidence that the Wild have the best coaching / GM combo we’ve ever had, so now a rebuild is at least possible.

But let’s just remember there are no sure things. Edmonton, after their long series of #1 OA and high R1 picks was supposed to be a generational dynasty starting, oh, about what 8 or 9 years ago? They even built a nice house for the Stanley Cup, it was going to be spending so much time up there that they wanted it to be comfortable. It didn’t exactly work out the way they planned, they may get there someday, but it is FAR from the sure thing they made it out to be.
