Just saw they hired Judd Brackett from the Canucks to be the Director of Amateur Scouting a few days ago. Interesting move. He had a hand in drafting some great young talent for the Canucks. Hopefully he can help turn around the drafting for the Wild.

Khovanov also signed a 1 year deal in the KHL with the understanding that he comes back over to the NHL AFTER his KHL season is done in March/April and either plays in the NHL/AHL. He another one to keep a close eye on and he’s a pure center.

Who’s getting excited? I watched a little wild video this morning and I am getting excited that I’ll be able to watch playoff hockey in a couple weeks!

I hope I didn’t just jinx it shock

I am. I think this is really going to happen too. Since they’ll be playing in Canada there should be little risk of getting shut down from rising cases in the area. I realized that about 7/8 of my tv time was watching sports. I never watch tv anymore.

I am. Gonna be a lot of hockey when it gets going. Hopefully its good playoff hockey and not junk because of the long layoff/format.

Didn’t realize how much I missed watching the stanley cup playoffs. I was kinda bummed about the cancellation of college hockey tournaments and the NCAA tournament too. Duluth had a real chance for a three peat and I was hoping Mankato would finally get a win.

The fact that only 2 players tested positive out of more than 800 after the phase 3 testing was just completed is a great sign that this could actually work once they get in the bubble. Hopefully Kaprizov can get his Canada tourist visa figured out asap and make it to Edmonton, you would think Canada would expedite him and a few others in the same position… I’m getting so stoked for major sports to come back this week!

I don’t think Kaprizov can play in these playoffs at all so I’m not sure there is any real hurry to get him there.

No he can’t play but he can skate and scrimmage with the team and get to know his teammates and coach. So any exposure he can begin to get now will just put him that further ahead rather than delaying him getting here.

The sooner the better, IF the Wild gets swept in 3 games it will be a short trip for him…no word yet on what the plans are for the rest of his summer? Does he move to Minneapolis? does he fly back to Russia?

I offered to let him hang out at the lake with me so we will see. I took 1 month of Russian in 8th grade so I should be good. I’m also a goalie so we can still hit the ice and train in the mornings.

Best have some high end Russian vodka on hand I hear they like to do morning vodka shots before training.

I’ll be taking my afternoon nap a little later in the day so hopefully I can stay awake for all three periods. Needs to be a entertaining game to for that to happen.

I read the article about fiala and Evanson in my NHL app. Interesting. Both admitted to butting heads when fiala was younger, but fiala sounds like he respects him and credits him with his late surge.

I read the same article. But I also recall them talking about on one of the game broadcasts when Fiala was just starting to light things up. Evanson spoke about it as well in the post game presser. I like the fact they are giving Evanson a solid chance he has earned it.

Won’t be more than two weeks before our South East World Neighbor shuts it down. As soon as all the Teams from Can are eliminated; Hockey is over.

Fyi – The Wild’s intra-squad scrimmage game is live on the Wild’s youtube channel today at 10:00am cst

Update – After watching the scrimmage, I came away VERY impressed with Calen Addison, the kid has skill and confidence, he will be fun to watch likely starting next year…He’s like a more offensive Spurgeon…

I don’t know for sure if the information in this story is 100% accurate, but it looks like a pretty legit sports website. If these text chats with the 3 Wild GM’s and Kaprizov are legit, then OMG there’s no wonder why Kaprizov took so long to get over here… The chats from Fletcher and Fenton….just wow…..is that really how GM’s talk/text to players?

Lol, that was funny. It got me thinking, didn’t Fenton say something weird about Zuccarello when we got him? What was it?

A lizzard. He compared him to a lizzard. To his face.

“I told him when I was talking to him that he’s like a lizard, the way a lizard takes his tongue and sticks it as far as it does and retrieves what it was trying to do.”

Brilliant text exchanges in the Kaprisov spoof. Lots of inside jokes in there.

I’m a fan of both as well, I loved their twitter feed telling all 30 teams in the xpac draft “We’re coming to steal your favorite players”

I can already picture their home opener playing the video clip of “Release the Kraken!!!!” when their players come out of the tunnel…

I think the Wild need to find a way to free up 2 seats on the protected bus as far as the expansion draft goes or we’re going to lose prime players any way you slice it.

What’s going to be the deal with Kaprisov re the expansion draft? His contract will technically be up next summer, but then by rule he’s an RFA due to being a rookie? Is he still protected because he hasn’t been in the league 2 years even though the Wild burned 1 year of his rookie contract?

I’m assuming Koivu will not matter even if he does return for another year, he’ll be on a 1-year deal and no clauses for trade or move.

Back to the 2020 season reboot, the Wild IMO have a pretty favorable matchup here. Question is do we really want to win a series with the draft situation being what it is? Another chance win and therefore make the team worse in the long term?

I’m not sure looking at the east if ANY team in the west except the Blues has any hope of a COVID Cup. Boston, Washington, Tampa, Philly, Pitts. Yikes.

Boston, Tampa, and Philly had the highest odds of winning when I checked the Vegas Sportsbook. The only team in the top 6 from the west was St Louis. Although Vegas seems to be a dark horse because of their goaltending.
