I really hope someone wants Dubs so we can cut the ties with him. He is washed up as a Wild player. Seems to get worse with every game

Yep should prove to be a interesting day! Does the deadline come at 3pm our time? Thought that’s what I read. If so we are looking at just hours if something is going to happen. Maybe Billy G will stand pat and look for better deals in the off season but I’m thinking some teams are anxious to improve now and the Wild have some pretty decent trade bait to dangle.

Ryan Carter tweeted that people should be ready to buckle up based on what he is hearing. Not sure if that was directed at Wild fans because it could be anyone, but he typically only tweets Wild-related stuff.
If the Wild could trade Parise to the Islanders that would be a good start. Frees up a top 6 spot, cap space and hopefully makes room for a much younger player.
Man it was painful to watch Fiala play with Koivu last night. It was like he had to skate with a weight vest on so he didnt outpace his centerman.February 24, 2020 at 8:04 am #1917484I’ve read lots and lots of rumors that there could be MAJOR shakeups happening today with the Wild. I love to speculate so here are a couple of crazy scenarios I would consider MAJOR trades:
Toronto trades Mitch Marner and another player to fill the salary gap to Wild for Matt Dumba, Zack Parise and a 2020 1st round pick.
Toronto trades Michael Nylander to the Wild for Matt Dumba and Ryan Donato
Carolina trades Toronto’s 2020 1st round pick, Martin Necas or Ryan Suzuki and a player to fill the salary gap to Wild for Matt Dumba and Devin Dubnyk
In lesser trades:
I think Stall, Pateryn and Donato get traded for 3rd+ round picksFebruary 24, 2020 at 8:06 am #1917489reminder that teams only need to be in the NHL trade conference call queue by the 2pm deadline, so there could still be trade announcements much later than 2pm
jeff_hubertyInactivePosts: 4941February 24, 2020 at 8:25 am #1917492Excuse my while I watch a mediocre team without complaining about what’s wrong with them
And then there’s the old “if you’re content with mediocrity..” I can’t stop laughing. I’m not content
Ohhhh no , is there a conflict in the club?
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22316February 24, 2020 at 8:35 am #1917499Anyone see the Wild fan with the 97 Kaprisov jersey at the end of the game? He was against the glass and turned his back to the ice and showed off his jersey. Brilliant!
Ice CapPosts: 2151February 24, 2020 at 8:39 am #1917501Nashville trying to move Grandlund today. Man there’s somebody who didn’t live up to the hype. Fiala for Grandlund was steal! Dang that Fenton was a genius!
Boudreau on Hockey Central this morning says Brodin to Toronto makes a lot of sense and a better fit for Toronto but the price may be too high. Sounds like he knows something. Maybe Billy G is shooting big and wants Marner.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22316February 24, 2020 at 8:43 am #1917505If the Wild could get Marner for Brodin (might have to add something to it) this would be about the only situation where I would trade him.
As much as I was all for the Wild going after Marner, I worry he may be a benefactor of who he plays with vs how good he really is and that is a monster contract to live up to.February 24, 2020 at 8:54 am #1917510Pageau to the Islanders for a 2020 1st & 2nd round picks and a 2022 3rd rounder!
Wow! teams are paying big prices…This all but rules out any Parise to Islander rumors…

I agree. Darnit.

Marner and Matthews from everything I’ve heard are pretty tight buddies off the ice as well and spend a great deal of time together. Marner getting the contract had as much to do with Matthews as it did Marner.
That may give Toronto great pause in moving him. They wind up with no Marner and a unhappy Matthews is not a great situation for them.
February 24, 2020 at 9:14 am #1917522Carolina picking up Trocheck from Florida, which makes zero sense for Carolina as they are set at Center, but this might turn into Trocheck and a 1st for Dumba…
I’m not high on Trocheck so this is a “meh” trade idea to me…

I know content and complain start with the same letter, but they’re not the same. Put your cheaters on. Maybe it’ll help you see what’s happening on the ice too.

Brian Lawton just speculated nearly this very thing only with Brodin going along with Staal and Wild getting Trochek and a 1st. He admitted it’s highly unlikely. I hope he’s right that would be a terrible deal for the Wild.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22316February 24, 2020 at 9:37 am #1917530The only thing I can think about Trocheck is that he broke his leg 2 years ago, I believe it was a similar injury that Fiala and Haula suffered. Those injuries take a while to come back from. There is a chance that Trocheck returns to how he played before the injury. At least he has proven in the past that he could put up nice numbers.
Still not sure I would consider him a top 6. He would be on THIS team, but not a Cup competitive team.February 24, 2020 at 9:42 am #1917533The only thing I can think about Trocheck is that he broke his leg 2 years ago, I believe it was a similar injury that Fiala and Haula suffered. So you are of the thinking that Trocheck is in a “dont unpack your bags” in Carolina because something else is in the works? Interesting thought, but I havent seen anything rumored on Twitter yet, because this work thing is causing distractions.

This is where it fell apart for you last year when you railed against any changes. If there are more changes coming hope you can find it within yourself to stick around this time.

Carolina has a ton of centers (They did lose Haula in this trade though) but they have a huge hole in their D. I suspect they are working back & forth with the Wild but refuse to give up Necas and perhaps arranged a deal to get Trocheck and then trade him and other assets for Dumba.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22316February 24, 2020 at 10:02 am #1917544Yeah, makes sense. Didnt sound like they were going to be able to re-sign Haula so this deal does make sense for Carolina right now, but with the pipeline of Centers they have, it would make sense to move someone. Vinnie, keep those bags packed.
Ice CapPosts: 2151February 24, 2020 at 10:07 am #1917546I don’t view Trocheck as the type of impact player the Wild need to get in return for a Dumba or Brodin unless there are a ton of picks and solid prospects involved as well. Or maybe Aho as a throw in!
February 24, 2020 at 10:10 am #1917547uggg Patrick Marleau just got the Sharks a 3rd round pick, this is likely what Koivu could have got us…it was all in his right to refuse to drop his ntc, but just sucks to miss out on a good pick return…

Would have been nice. Only way Koivu was going anywhere was if he could almost be guarnteed a Cup at the end of the year. But maybe being on a team and riding your way to Cup without really being a contributor rang hollow to him. Probably means more to him to retire having spent his entire career with one team. I can respect that.

I forgot that Jordan Staal plays for Carolina, so maybe the Wild includes Eric Staal in a deal and Trocheck becomes our temp #1 Center, but ultimately our #2 center…Nobody is going to trade away their #1 center so we’ll likely have to take a chance on a #1 center prospect (Suzuki) if we can get one in a trade or we just aim for 1st round picks and take a shot there, but then you’re looking 2-3 years out..

Wild getting spanked by the Blues tonightawful lot of quit being displayed tonight, especially by #11 on that shorthanded goal…Dubnyk looks lost out there most of the time, maybe goaltending needy Carolina takes him off our hands? Would they even want him though?
Agree, it just gets so hard to watch at a certain point.

Also agree…. Fiala for Grandlund was a good move. Now we just need to get a centerman who can play with Fiala…
February 24, 2020 at 10:25 am #1917557Kreider resigns with the Rangers so there’s a huge chip pulled out of the deadline puzzle… If he wanted to stay in New York then why not get traded for a huge haul and then just resign in Free Agency? Unless the Rangers were scared of huge offers made for him in FA they just costed themselves likely multiple 1st round picks…
February 24, 2020 at 10:32 am #1917559Supposedly Pateryn is generating a lot of interest currently.
