I’ll throw $10 into the pot. Well worth it.

How about Bouwmeester? I watched the “replay” on YouTube, but apparently not close enough. On the news they zoomed in and showed them performing CPR and today they said they also used a defibrillator.
There is a split second time frame while the electricity is going through your heart where if a quick, blunt force is applied there is a small possibility for sudden cardiac arrest. I’m not saying this is what happened in his case but it’s certainly a possibility. Other possibility is he has an unknown cardiac issue that has gone unnoticed until now.
Thank god they had medics and defibrillators nearby or it could’ve been a very bad outcome if he actually was in cardiac arrest.

From what I saw of Zucker last night he didnt look good and as speedy as we all thought he was he got passed by Crosby on a line rush.Maybe Zucker isn’t all that fast after all. He was just the fastest guy on a slow team?
Zucker is still not 100%. Remember, he’s just two months removed from a broken leg and surgery. You can clearly see he’s not skating like himself yet. And it truly shows in his speed.
I was happy to see Dumba give Reaves rocks a blast. I hate that guy. He trying to take Koivu and others out the whole first period and Dumba put an end to it. . He’s only out there to hurt people. It’s nice to see the Wild standing up for themselves a little more lately.
I think Gurin has had a little chat with this team and told them to get some nasty to their game. He even said in an interview that they don’t have to go after Reaves if he takes liberties. The Wild will just go after some top liners on the Vegas side, we don’t need to fight Reaves to win the battle, pretty tough for him to be out there defending all the Vegas forwards.
Gurin knows how to get things done, I like his attitude and the way he’s bringing this team over to a different style of play.

Just saw that replay tonight and that was a bad, bad situation that happened in the best possible spot with 2 team doctors and a defib machine within feet of the bench. Very glad that things went the right way.
Those defib machines save lives bigtime. A good friend of mine, Bill, was sitting there at his daughter’s dance practice for the 50,000th time and was board out of his mind. Until one of the 12-year-olds fell into a heap on the floor in full cardiac arrest. Things got pretty damn real, it happens that Bill is a doctor and together with another doctor who happened to be there that night, they got to work. Nothing was going right, they couldn’t get a pulse and there they were doing compressions on 12 year old and nothing was working. They got the defib machine and it had to shock her several times to get her heart started again, but it worked and they got her back. The ambulance would have arrived about 10 minutes too late had that defib not been there. Know where the defib is in your office and take note of them anywhere else you see them, you just never know.

“Know where the defib is in your office and take note of them anywhere else you see them, you just never know”.
Sound advice there Grouse. Billy G appears to have a different approach to being general manager. He seems to take on a bit of the coaching role by speaking directly at the players in terms of what performance he expects to see of them on the ice. I wonder if coach Boudreau feels his toes are being stepped on. Regardless, it looks like Billy is out to make this his team. He has no ties to any of these players which is a good thing. Everybody is on equal footing in his eyes. He has no need to feel like he has to give somebody more time to develop because he made the trade to bring them here or made the decision to draft them.
But as time goes on that will change and we will have the team that Billy built. At the very least it should be interesting.
That whole Boumeister thing was surreal. He just slumped over on the bench, but you could see how everyone sprang to action quickly. I saw the video of them doing chest compressions, it is kind of disturbing to watch. Sounds like he is doing well now and will have continued tests to determine cause and course of action, but as has been said, thank goodness there were qualified people nearby and the AED was there because it certainly saved his life or at the very least made it so he didnt have too bad of long term effects.
Wow! I guess I missed this. Roenick was dropped by NBC because he made a comment about a vacation he took with his wife and Kathryn Tappen and jokingly made a remark about them having a threesome! Of course JR should know better than to even joke about that given today’s environment and his celebrity tv analyst position.
I always liked his analysis most of the time and I’m sure he will show up somewhere. He’s a talented guy.

I can’t stand that arrogant idiot, glad he is gone!!
We may soon see the full impact of a Salary Cap Recapture penalty with the whole Shea Weber situation. Sounds like his injury is far worse than previously thought and could be career threatening. The penalties the Preds could face if he retired are astounding.
Personally I dont think any player would retire early because they would be out all that money, but if they did, wowza.

Never been a fan of his. In fact, most of those NBC Sports guys on NHL Live are a joke. Millbury, etc.
I dont mind Keith Jones, Liam McHugh, Anson Carter or KT but I do know I didnt much care for Roenick. His commentary and analysis was always lazy and not very well thought through. Half the time what he said was patently false.

It didn’t come off as just a comment or a joke, he went on about it for some time in the podcast. If Roenick is too stupid or too arrogant to know he can’t go on a podcast and babble on about sexual fantasies involving a co-worker, then he deserves what he got. It’s nothing to do with today’s environment, that comment would have gotten anyone fired even 20 years ago and rightly so. What a jackass.

Is there audio of this somewhere?

His “comment” was 100% tongue in cheek telling a story on a raunchy podcast where former and current nhl players, coaches, gms, agents, etc. tell behind the scenes stories from their career, personal life, younger days, etc. I love the articles that try to make something out of the fact that JR called Patrick Sharp attractive and Anson Carter ugly. This is cancel culture at its finest.

It was on the “Spitting Chiclets” podcast or an interview. I saw the video where he said it, I dont know if its still available to be viewed or heard because I havent looked for it again.

For those interested, its around the 35 minute mark of the video. You can listen for about a minute and see how it came up and why it was even mentioned/joked about.
I am going n the minority, I like Roenick.
I too wonder if Guerin dumps the coach after this year in brings in a guy who doesn’t mind a GM motivating and commenting on the players play. Then again maybe Bruce is cool with it and they have an understanding.
I wouldn’t look too much into the fact he made a statement about playing hard. I think any new GM in his spot would say something similar. Billy G is friendly guy in general and likes to have relationships with the players because in his former role that was a big part of his job was figuring out how well the locker room fit. Him being a former player it’s easy for him to talk with the players vs a more business like gm. I think it’s a good trait to have but his statements are more or less lip service. I’m pretty BB says it a dozen times a day.
I sure hope it isn’t lip service. That’s the type of non accountability that got us in this spot in the first place.
Probably a game the Wild should have come away from with 2 points last night. Going into the third with a 2 goal lead you should be able to hang on to that. They got out skated terribly in the second but still managed to get the only goal of the period. They seemed happy to let the Rangers in the zone most of the third and content playing defense.
Staal has been god awful. Why is he out there in ot? He really gets exposed on a 3 on 3 situation. Fiala didn’t make an appearance until ot. He’s getting noticed so teams are keying on him more now so we are going to find out how good he actually is. You can sneak up on teams for a half dozen games or so but once you are being game planned for things get much tougher. Space and time goes away.
Good game for Brodin last night. I think he’s trying to make a case to Billy G to keep him around and let Dumba be the trade bait. And to me that would be the smart move.

I would prefer keeping Brodin over Dumba based on Dumba getting more in trade return, but it would depend on what Brodin’s next contract cap hit would be? He’s not a scorer so he “shouldn’t” be able to demand to much right?
Boudreau fired this morning. A little shocking considering they’ve been playing much better lately. I figured it might happen at the end of the season but this seems like something might have pushed guerin over the edge. Maybe last nights loss. Still shocked it happened during the season.
I’m 100% convinced this is a last ditch shot by BillyG to see if a coaching change can fuel this team to a winning streak before the deadline and get them into a secure playoff slot. If not, then he sells what he can at the deadline and continues with his rebuild. He was going to let Bruce go at the end of the season anyways, now he can try to use the firing as a springboard for the team the next 10 days before the deadline.
I’m fine with it, there are some huge names on the available coaching list, will be interesting to see if he goes with experience or tries young blood…
It makes sense if he brings a guy in right away as opposed to an interim coach. It appears he is done with his analysis and letting things shake out first

Totally agree, I have no idea what changing coaches in midstream does to improve this team at this point in the season. Unlesss, of course, Bill already has “his guy” waiting in the wings and didn’t want to risk losing him to another team should he wait until the end of the year to decide.
Unlike the Yeo years where it was obvious Yeo WAS part of the problem, I don’t see what in the Wild’s current form can be blamed on coaching. Maybe this is Gurin signaling his direction, we’ll see who he brings.

He’s replacing him with Eveson. The assistant coach. Makes no sense. How is that going to change anything when it’s a coach you already have.
I don’t get it. Bruce reportedly was blindsided.
I don’t know why anyone would want to coach here with our core of vets. They have gotten way too many coaches fired.
Likely not Bruce’s fault, but I am fine with it all the same. Finally someone who is sick and tired of the mediocrity and if they can ship out the lazy vets with him even better.
He’s replacing him with Eveson
Eveson has been named interim, so that has me thinking Gurin has another coach in mind.
I’m interested to know who are all these “lazy vets” that are the Wild’s sole problem? Or is this the new code-speak for the fantasy of getting rid of Suter and Parise? Which ain’t gonna happen.
