Why? Is LaPanta a cancer?
Underachiever. Poster child for mediocrity.
Suter took the F’ing body tonight! Can’t believe it…..what great timing.
Nice win. Hope Spurgeon’s injury doesn’t keep him out too long. Only 12 points behind the Blues!!
Lou is commentary tonight. Now if they could just bounce LaPanta out of the press box and I’d be a lot happier.
As much as I hate Lou’s commentary, it is better than Lapanta!
Spurg has a broken hand so he’ll be out for awhile…
LaPanta has grown on me a little over the years but I would welcome somebody else…it’s Greenlay “chuckles” that I can’t stand at all, thankfully they only gave him a couple of games this year…
If you have an Athletic account, go read the story on Guerin’s trip to see Kaprizov, sounds like he’s excited to join the Wild next year.

It will be 4 to 6 weeks before Spurgeon will be able to grip a stick. That hurts. Does this mean Seeler is in or do they bring up Belpedio? Also Koivu mysteriously left the bench and didnt play the third.
I never minded Greenlay too much, but having the color rotation this year has been fun. Then when Greenlay came back, ufdah. He was brutal. Almost like he tried to catch up for lost words as if he was 2,000 steps should of the daily goal.
Read the piece on Kaprisov. Although they didnt talk any specifics about IF he was coming because Guerin didnt feel it was a good thing to do since he is currently under contract, it was encouraging to hear that Kaprisov speaks much better English than he gives himself credit for. That was one thing that was going to worry me.
The other part about that article is speculation about roster spot for him. There is going to have to be a trade and I have to think Zucker and/or Kunin will be the odd man out.
I’d like to see them bring up Brennan Menell for a shot, he plays like a Spurgeon clone and deserves a chance to see if he can play in the NHL.
The only way I would feel good about trading Zucker is if they can somehow sign Backstrom away from the Capitals this summer. We need an elite passer in the worst way and Putting him with a young shooter like Kaprizov would be awesome. The Capitals are cap strapped and Backstrom is a RFA this offseason, but I would think they would move people around to find the $$ while Ovi still has gas left in the tank so it might be a pipe dream…
I just see Zucker turning into a regular 30-40 goal scorer once he leaves here…
oh and how about the ballz on Kaappo Kaaponen shooting for the open net in the last 2 minutes of a 1 goal game!?!
Talk about a confident kid! I loved it! I love how the camera immediately went to the Wild bench for reaction and the face of alot of players was like “wtf did that kid just try to do? holy $#%!”
Bruce had the “wtf” look on his face too, I laughed…

That was awesome! He is going to get one at some point. He scored twice a couple seasons ago. He will be a legend if he does that, but he played absolutely great. The one shot he didnt even see was totally screened, but otherwise was very quick moving laterally and controlling rebounds. He didnt look great in the preseason, but I think that was great to get him out there and now he looks comfortable.
I dont know much about Menell’s game, but Belpedio is a similar player to Spurgeon as well. There was even talk that if the Wild couldnt get Spurgeon signed that he would be the heir apparent. I will have to look for some footage of Menell to see how he looks.
Too funny about LaPanta. If he is indeed the poster child for mediocrity, then send him packing! LOL
Is that official on Spurgeon? I was listening to Boudreau on the FAN this morning and he said he’s going to miss the next couple games. Guess that was just management talk. I could tell immediately after he blocked that shot that he wouldn’t even move his arm the rest of the play until the goal. I was worried something was pretty bad.
I’d like to see Seeler get another shot. Fenton sapped him of all the confidence he built up when he got benched for that god awful defenseman Fenton wanted to play. I think if Seeler gets another shot he gets back to his physical, solid defender he was two years ago.
I agree on getting Seeler another chance. He looked like he had potential.
It just came out that it appears Spurgeon’s issue is less severe than thought and would be out a couple weeks. Perhaps they determined it wasnt broken.

I think you guys are forgetting about the TTMSFE…You’re overthinking this.
Grouse
haha, I guarantee you I’ve thought less about it than you! I mean the 30 seconds I used writing that response was the amount of thought I put into it. You have a manifesto!
It’s all in good fun though!
I think you guys are forgetting about the TTMSFE, you know who I’m talking about, the:
Typical ‘Typical Minnesota Sports Fan’ Explainer, who often times deep down really wants to be a TMSF.
I believe you have nailed it!
I am adding here that I believe there may be more than one, but less than three.
Plagiarism runs deep in most of those redundant posts.

You’re getting your wish. Called up Menell today.

His hockey journey is a great story, from getting cut from his High School team to signing a pro contract..He mimics Spurgeon’s game in many ways, and like Spurgeon, he just needs to get a shot at playing to prove himself…He just doesn’t play overly-physical and that’s likely his reason for not getting called up sooner because offensively he’s been one of the AHL’s best Defenseman the past 2 years. He could be Brodin’s replacement in a few years…

huh?
Seeler has looked pretty darn good tonight and Soucy has been a game changer. I’m really starting to like him.
I’ll give them credit for a nice stretch here. Put up 5 goals against TB and not your standard goal scorers either. I have my doubts they can keep it up, but a guy can hope.

Streaks definitely have to end. But I do think overall they CAN keep this good play up. I think the big thing that may kill it is when Dubnyk returns. I think the players have lost all confidence in him and don’t play for him anymore.

I take this back, I wanted to crawl thru the TV last night and throat punch Lou
On a brighter note, it was a great game and much better when I turned the sound off. Guys were out there skating their arses off Stalock was on fire

Me too. A few things he said during the game made no sense at all.
The food news is in a couple months you get to listen to his endless praise of the Edina club at the state tournament.
Hard team to figure out.
X2
I can’t help but think that this team is finally moving in the right direction.
Zuccarello maybe could be the top NHL free agent signing for the Wild in a long time. It was pretty impressive the other day in New York when that fan base showed so much appreciation for him.
From what I saw I think this team has found its identity. They are a grinding blue collar team. Their most important attribute is that they appear to not get rattled. Dare I say this team has finally gotten some heart?
Of course that is hard to extrapolate from one game, but I sort of know how the season has gone and how they have evolved. Every team needs to go through adversity, that was Tampa’s problem last year. I am actually glad that the Lightning are struggling a little bit here at the start of the season.
