I am officially off the Wild bandwagon so I am not going to lose any sleep if Zucker goes. In regards to Kessel or any other good player out there looking for a team to play on why would they pick Minnesota? Who would want to play in front of the boring home fans? Who would want to listen to the non-leadership of Koivu, Suter and Parise! This team is going to stink until those three are gone. State of hockey my a**.

So the Wild just got the rights to Fedor Gordeev from Toronto A Russian defenseman that goes 6’7″ and 224lbs! 7 goals and 32 points in the Ontario hockey League last season. The Wild gave up a 7th round draft pick for him.

I wonder if the Wild are after something else from Toronto they surely don’t need defenseman. This may just be a ice breaker.

He’s definitely worth the 7th round draft pick imo. He looks alot like Tyler Myers on the ice in that he’s a good skater and can control the puck with relative ease, BUT I read his defensive game is lacking and that’s kind of important when you play defense.. worth the flyer in that his upside is so high with that frame…

I predict there is as well and said as much to my buddy yesterday after learning of the deal and he has already signed his ELC.

Sounds like he is a gifted puck mover which is a definite plus especially if we are trying to get more dynamic offensively. It will be interesting to see how he develops.

I’m starting to think you will for sure see offer sheets made this offseason (there hasn’t been one completed in 10+ years) and i’d be willing to bet the Wild offer one for Toronto’s Kaspari Kapanen, if they can sign him under 4.2 million per season, it will only cost them a 2nd round draft pick, no brainer, problem is it’s also a no brainer for others teams as well…

It will be interesting to see what happens with Mitch Mariner, looks like his agent is holding off negotiations with Toronto until after the offer sheet window opens. Would you be willing to sign him to a 11+ million per season deal and thus give up 3x 1st round draft picks and several 2nd and 3rd rounders to Toronto? If i’m the Maple Leafs, I kind of hope somebody does…

I agree wholeheartedly on the Kapanen comment and this Marner deal would be a mighty tough pill to swallow. Man, for a team to do that they had better be ready to win now or they are going to get hosed down the line with no influx of youth, unless they could gain some back with other periphery moves.

Marner is an intriguing talent, but I am not sure I would want to spend the amount of money on him that he is likely going to command.

The price for Marner is too high. Not many teams are going to have the cap space to even consider giving him a offer. Including Toronto. Toronto’s projected cap space is 9 million next year and they have other signings and holes to plug. With Marner looking for 11 mill I don’t see him accepting less than 9 to stay in Toronto.

I read that Columbus or Carolina may have the money to offer him. I think he could be a great addition in Carolina. But you never know what a player is going to produce or not produce when moved to another team. Marner and Tavares had great chemistry which is often hard to reproduce on another team.

It’s nice to see the Twins doing well. I am a die hard Cubs fan but keep a bit of an eye on the Twins…especially when they beat the White Sox. Watching the Twins and Rays today made me think about a Cubs vs Twins World Series.

Thanks….must of been a senior moment toast I’d root for the Wild in a cup final, since the Blackhawks could not face them. rotflol

I can’t help but think that over the past year Fenton has been destroying this team’s future for years to come. You don’t just trade a player to trade him. It has to be a good deal for your team. I have the feeling we will trade Zucker for a bag of hockey pucks just like Nino.

At least the Wild are still on the Stanley Cup radar scope, those Gieco commercials have to have our managent team feeling giddy about themselves.

I agree that the Zucker trade attempts have been an absolute fiasco, I don’t get what can be gained by trading him, you won’t get younger or cheaper so what’s the point? I think it’s too early to judge Fenton’s other moves and they all were moves that needed to happen. Coyle was an enigma his entire career here and he’s a year away from a likely raise so the Wild decided to move on, the return for him (Donato + 4th round pick) looks like a win for the Wild early on.

Nino looked absolutely terrible for the Wild this season, he was traded to a upcoming team and put on a future superstars (Aho) line and he looked like a completely different player, the return of Rask has looked terrible but there was a significant cap savings too. Rask is a center so thats a positive at least, maybe he has a bounce back season and salvages the trade, if not you trade or buy him out next year.

Grandlund is in line for a $7 million per season salary and he again disappeared in the playoffs for Nashville. Fiala has the talent to make this trade positive plus the team controls his next contract, I agree with most that Fenton should have got a draft pick or two with the deal.

This summer will tell the story on Fenton, it will be an interesting next few months…maybe he shocks the hockey world with a huge offer sheet move? Kaprizov coming next year is like getting a top 3 draft pick so that will help.

Seems Yo-Yo built a pretty good team in St. Louis.

Congrats to the Stanley Cup champions.

Yes I was happy St. Louis won it. They are too talented of a team to NOT be in contention. O’Riley was just terrific and they got the goaltending they needed and then some.

I don’t think there can anymore doubt that Yeo is not an NHL coach. He just didn’t have it. Credit to the Blues organization for NOT waiting almost 3 years like the Wild did to show him the door.

Less than the Blues, since we had a few years off between the North Stars and the Wild.

I live in St. Louis. As you can imagine, it was quite a party here last night!

I know, right? I have a feeling there is a movie in the making with all of the things surrounding this championship.

    The question is…

…who plays Mike Yeo the imbattled head coach groomed by a legend who couldn’t get this team to win.

Man, I dont use the word hate when referring to people often, but I use it every time in reference to that rat. Great player, but such a sneaky, dirty little prick. I wish someone would mop the ice of him.

Being an agitator is one thing, but he’s done a lot of dirty stuff in his past that were dangerous like submarining players. I think he’s tapped that down, because I’m not sure how long it has been since he did something like that or was suspended.
