Man, as much as I was amused by the Ducks fans’ dumpster fire tweets after the trade yesterday, the Wild fanatics are worse after today’s news.

I like Nino, but this trade makes sense in my eyes because I see it as a springboard for something bigger. Fenton is targeting a bigger deal that this and these last 2 trades had to happen prior in order for the larger one, well at least this Nino one did IMO.

Flat start, good 2nd period, with another call not going their way and pipes instead of twine, go figure.

Hate to see NN go, but maybe a couple shifts in the roster can spark something.

Empty seats, crowd jeers after 3-0
numbers of Fans leaving after 2nd period,
Arena half empty at 8 min mark of 3rd.

Another 1st period half A55 effort.

Trades seem to be lateral moves. Don’t see where anybody got better. Want to lose with a known quantity or a new unknown quantity?

Oh well, spring training starts in a month and the Wild will be as relevant as the Timberwolves.

I would call the Aberg trade a moving forward one for the Wild, he’s a proven NHL scorer we traded an undersized unsigned free agent for…

I would call the Nino trade a positive for the Wild as well because they traded an overpaid asset who has looked absolutely terrible the last season+ for a younger center who makes 1.25 million less per season. Rask has had a rough season+ as well, but I think his best hockey is ahead of him…

as we’ve talked about, it can’t be easy for Fenton to trade these guys because they haven’t been playing well and a majority of them are overpaid, I think he’s done a fine job with the 2 trades he’s made so far, I think more big ones are coming…

    Agreed;
I think they are setting up this team to move more players depending on the playoffs, are we in or are we out?
They may hold on and see which way the team moves in the standings, if the loses continue I say Stall, Coyle, Granlund, and maybe a defenseman could be traded.
Maybe Dubes for that matter, other GMs will be looking for the wilds top players if they go into selling mode.

I was only able to catch the first period last night. Did anyone else see the confusion between Granlund and Aberg on the pp? After they finally set up, Granlund was hogging the left side of the ice and Aberg was clearly trying to get him to switch sides. I mean, I though they wanted that right hand shot on the left side. I heard Fenton bragging about having a right hand shot on the pp.

After a small scrum on the power play they were forced to switch sides and Granny fed Aberg for a bomb of a one-timer.

understandable since they only had one practice to get used to each other…

Except it’s a simple concept, go to your strong side. You can teach a 5 y/o to do it in one practice.

And the 5 year old will ask after you explain it, “What’s a strong side mean?” P

That trade may look lateral on the surface,I think the backside is this team will be a seller at the deadline. Is it really a contract dump? Or is it more likely acquiring players that can be placed on the next expansion list? Protecting the players Fenton sees as part of the teams long term future.

The problem with selling at the deadline is that there are very few teams in the market. With few teams in the market demand is less and you end up getting less for your asset. I for one hope they don’t engage in a big selloff at the deadline. Very few trades meme sense at the deadline. Staal is one that would likely happen. Maybe a defenseman like Brodin or Spurgeon. But that’s about it.

    Under.

To be clear, from today to the deadline. Also, trades meaning trading away current Wild roster players, not just draft picks.

I am going over, just because I believe the NN trade saved Coyle.
Teams may be in the market for big bodies and I think the wild have that on their fourth line.
Stall? Lack of scoring has dismissed his value but I think he could still go to a contender. On the fence here, but if the wild falter I can easily see a 2nd line forward or a second tier D traded.

Over, Staal goes to highest bidder whatever that might be. Rask slides into vacant center spot. Next couple of games will decide if CL finally has had enough of this roster.

Mired in a group of 5-10 teams who would have 0 chance in a playoff series. Each team with the chance of a First round playoff exit. Fighting tooth and nail to be the best of bottom ten.

The only season ending suspense left is which team ends up reaching the surface and gasping for playoff air, or who washes belly up on shore of the NHL Draft lottery first.

I for one, am not in the market to see another one and done playoff series.
It’s time for this team to look down the road and change the direction of this team. The status quo is failure to achieve the stated goal of owner
C Leopold, “bring a Stanley Cup championship to Minnesota.”

This team as it stands is unable to do so, he gave them another season to try and here they are wallowing at the bottom.

I watched people in -20 degree weather skating and watching hockey yesterday. I was in a arena watching high school last night and the parking lot was jammed full. Hockey is a very unique sport which almost transcends winning.

I understand the angst over the Wild but they put a competitive and entertaining product on the ice every year. They keep selling it out and with the U tanking in attendance you could argue they still are the hottest hockey ticket in the metro.

I’ll let all you hockey GM’s settle whats right and wrong with the team. In the meantime I will still follow them with interest.

Do you carry the same understanding with Big 10 hockey?

They keep selling it out and with the U tanking in attendance you could argue they still are the hottest hockey ticket in the metro.

If you have attended any Wild games you would see and understand that they are pulling your chain when they announce attendance numbers. There are significant numbers of empty seats for most of the games.

Everyone who posts here has shown a passion for the Wild we all just have
alernative views of where this team stands.

And you accuse grouse and I of drinking the coolaid??? If you are hanging on this quote you might want to take a glance in the mirror.

There is absolutely nothing about the latest trades that suggest there’s going to be any sell off. If anything, the Kloos/Aberg trade suggests they’re trying to get better now to make a run. S would have to hit the fan pretty hard to send this team into sell off mode.
