Are Wild games expensive to get tickets for. Never been to a game and would love to go. I’m from Iowa, so are there any decent hotels near the arena?

Considering there isn’t a bad seat in the Xcel Energy Center, no I don’t think they’re expensive.

There are a lot of good hotels in St. Paul. Closest is probably the Holiday Inn right across the street from the X. You can also easily stay at the hotels near the Mall of America and then ride the light rail. It’s a few blocks walk from the nearest station to the X, but it opens up a lot of hotel options.

There are a couple hotels within a block of the rink. I’ve never sat in the upper deck and usually pay about $120 for a ticket.

I think the price of tickets is insane if you want to draw a casual or new fan.

It’s packed every night. Just have to sit in the upper deck if you want a cheaper ticket.

I understand that. But even in the upper deck what would it cost a family or 3 or 4 to go to the game? Flip in a beer for mom & dad, soda or two, some hot dogs. Gotta buy a souvenir for the kid(s).

Ya tickets aren’t bad for the guys to take in a game but I certainly don’t understand how all these hockey families I see there can do it.

Sling just took a crap so if anyone is looking for an alternative go download the fox sports go app and sign in using your sling account. Works good without sling right now.

I would be taking the whole family. So we would have three kids. My son who is 1 yr old I would imagine could get in without a ticket.

Kucherov is going to lead the league in goals if he and Stamkos stay healthy most the year. The guy may be the best sniper in the league.

Kucherov is insanely good. I hope Stamkos stays healthy all year. The Bolts are probably my 2nd possibly 3rd favorite team (Oilers).

This whole Parise thing is so frustrating. I don’t know why they don’t just put him on LTIR. Another setback yesterday. So, if they had put him on LTIR at the beginning he would be eligible to come back and we would have saved some $$$ and could have kept Reilly up last game.
Now if they put Parise on LTIR he has to be out for at least 25 days I believe. I think they cannot even participate in that timeframe.
    Ugh.

I am assuming that his injury is more serious than he or the team are willing to admit.
Back injuries are very difficult to heal, playing hockey the way he does can not help the proper healing process.
For his sake and the teams remaining contract obligation, it may be best to rest him for the season.

Case in point would be the end of Mario Lemuix’s Career

He has said it isn’t his back on multiple occasions. Not saying that his back injury didn’t lead to something else flaring up (hip), but he has said it isn’t his back.

I’d bet dollars to donuts it is his back. He had the herniated disk and most people know once you have back problems, they pretty much never go away. He may be having spasms, which sounds innocuous, but are seriously painful and annoying.

They showed some clips on the news of him after skating, it sure looked as if he had a hard time standing upright. Anyone who has had back issues knows that stance and posture.

Agreed, all I am saying is what he said. I think it would be pretty shady to lie about it. I mean its one thing to not admit specifically WHAT is injured, like saying “upper body”, but to say its “not my back” and it is, that is wrong.

The whole hiding injury deal in the NHL is a joke. I wouldn’t have been surprised had they said Foligno suffered a high ankle sprain.

Ha! You probably didn’t see the last game, but Marcus was in street clothes and introduced before the game. It wasnt hard to see what his injury was, the racoon eyes gave it away. Lol

Yes, I’ve never understood what the idea is behind concealing what the injuries are. And why is only the NHL all coy about this?

At least we have the benefit of only having to play once a week so we get some resting time for the injured players.

Russo was pressed today on Twitter and he confirmed it was his back. Figured as much, but why would Parise say otherwise?

I didn’t have to see the last game. I saw the previous game…and Foligno’s face get mashed in slowmo. By the way, what a lucky shot by that Hawk, his fricken eye were closed and he was looking away.

I have no idea, but I assume it’s because hockey is an emotional game and/or there are still dirty players. You don’t need players targeting an injury or recently healed injury. What I don’t get is why does the NHL require specifics, if they do? Why can’t they just say injury out for a week.

uggg, I sense this is the beginning of the end for Parise…as others have stated, you never hear about a back injury ever getting much better…I hope i’m dead wrong…

Good lord does MN pro sports teams ever have $#@%% luck with injuries to our star players…somebody please wrap up Karl Anthony Towns in bubble-wrap!

If he can’t play again, that ahole better settle his contract with the Wild so it doesn’t hurt them. devil

NHL contracts are fully guaranteed, so Parise will get his money, now the Wild does have a few options to get alot of that cap space back should he be forced to retire (ala Marian Hossa for the Blackhawks)

again all of this is speculation, but I’ve never heard of a back injury that got better the older you get…

Thankfully I don’t think the wild would be hit with the retirement penalty if Parise were forced to retire before the end of his contract. The league put in a clause in 2013 (likely because of contracts like his) where they were front loaded and the end several years were a mere fraction of the AV.
The new rule spreads it at an even amount and that ends up being used to calculate the hit in a retirement due to injury situation. I think that Parise’s contract would be just the remaining value which is like $2M per at the end.

Here is some info I found, funny its regarding Hossa.

So from what I saw in the paper yesterday, the injuries are:

Folangio – Broken cheekbone from fight.
    Parise – Back.
    Coyle – broken leg.
Nino – Can’t recall that they said specifically.

Grandlund is close to coming back, so that’s some good news.

Have to agree, it doesn’t sound good for the chances for Parise to come back and be 100%. IIRC, there was supposed to be a surgical option for whatever his condition is and he elected not to have it done last year because it’s a season-ender. I wonder if that comes back into play?

The NHL has accomplished what it wanted in the salary cap era. There was never this much talent spread this evenly around the league.

I hope to see that Kaprisov kid in a Wild sweater someday because that’s the kind of talent production the Wild must have to remain competitive after the draft disasters that were the Reisborough era.

Streit and the Canadians agreed to terminate his contract! Ok, big difference. )

Lol, Hossa isn’t retired, they are faking a skin condition so he can have a vacation this year and free up cap space for Sharp and Saad. devil
