That is a gross expansion draft for sure! Many of those guys were out of the league that year. Really says something.

I can’t watch the Vegas series. Sorry, but this IS a case, I freely admit, of “Expansion Sour Grapes” or ESG disease. A total crock to have a expansion team handed an entire finals ready team in one fell swoop. Might as well have handed them the first 3 draft picks for the next couple of years as well, that’s the only way the deal could have gotten any more candy coated than what they got handed to them. Feel bad for the real teams like San Jose who had to build a team the hard and legitimate way only to have the league hand Vegas a pre-built team. Kind of like the rich kid who’s dad buys his son a pre-built pinewood derby car and he uses it to win the trophy.

Vegas got handed a finals ready team?!?!
They $$paid$$ dearly for a team full of either AHLers or 3rd/4th liners and 5th/6th defensemen. They drafted zero top 4 defensemen and maybe 2 or 3 top 6 forwards. Those guys all got elevated rolls and every single one of them is having a career year.
Yes they had way more opportunity than the wild in their x-draft, but they certainly weren’t handed a team of all stars. Don’t forget they paid $420 million more than the wild did just to enter the league.
Agreed on the Caps finally getting over that hump. Perhaps there is hope for the Wild afterall.
This is such a Homer thing to say!
And while the Wild were getting their rears kicked inside-out, some of you were taking solace in the fact that “at least the Capitals suck in the post-season too!”, “it’s not just us!” don’t even have that to cling to anymore. LOL
The only thing to be sour about is that the Wild didn’t have the same pool of player talent to pick from when they came into the league…I mean just look at our picks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_NHL_Expansion_Draft)…omg what a joke…
Not only was the list of available players pathetically thin on talent, but then the Wild only got 50% of that. Vegas didn’t have to split the pie with anyone.
Can’t agree with this “team of castaways” metaphor that people are throwing around. I’m not going to go player by player, but while they may have been likely to move on from their current team, the likes of van Riemsdyk, Fleury, Karlsson, Thorburn, Haula, Tuch, etc, etc, etc were not just going to be put out to pasture or the scrapheap had they not been “saved” by Vegas. They all would be playing for somebody.
Vegas got THE sweetheart deal of NHL history. Quebec and Seattle are allegedly next in line, I’d say both are going to push with everything they have for the “Vegas Deal” rather than a team relo. Poor Quebec, with all the speculation about moving FL or AZ up there they must be beside themselves thinking that they’ll get screwed with a hand-me-down and Seattle will get the full Vegas Job expansion deal.

I should have used my sarcasm font I see.

Congrats on a great Team win, they have a very good chance of winning this.
Don’t expect to much from the long winded hockey hacks on here,
The State of Hockey carries a blind view of the game and the rest of the NHL. So when it comes to talented teams who for no reason other than puck luck beat the home team, they carry disstorted view reality.
It will take a game or two,for them to see how well the Jets play the game. So after they wake up from their prediction hangover, they will promptly jump on thE Las Vegas band wagon.
After all the Jets never should have “WHOPPED UP ON” the “TEAM” from the State of “HOCKEY”
You vieled congratulations to be a hack.
Sorry to disappoint you but, congratulations Cam and the Jets. I’ll be rooting for the Jets unless they meet Tampa in the finals. I suspect most here don’t want to see an expansion team make it to the finals, but regardless would root for the central division.
You vieled congratulations to be a hack.
Here it comes, Ido bandwagon jumping has begun.
If you wanna start a fight just man up and say so. As somebody who just showed up here you seem to think pretty highly of your opinions and not so much of other peoples. Thank you………it’s good to know we have the almighty here now at IDO looking down on us.

Isnt that the truth!
I said before the playoffs even started that the Jets were the worst matchup the wild could have had in the first round. The Wild pretty much had their way with all of the other playoff teams in the regular season, but not so with the Jets.
Lest we forget that “homerk” is a season ticket holder who cannot even spell player’s names right. Homerk, when you are done patting yourself on the back, for whatever reason it is, read the team roster that comes with your season ticket renewal.
I think it’s funny how some season ticket holders feel entitled to bash their own team as if they know better than the team management. It’s as if they think it’s as easy as a managing fantasy hockey team.

Simply Put;
In hockey terms it’s just a hard check into the boards.
and for you baseball fans, It’s a swing and a miss. Chin music?
Lest we forget that “homerk” is a season ticket holder who cannot even spell player’s names right.
And for the Grammar Police to make it simple for you, how does Granny work?

Helm yes! it’s my money right? and for the record the team owner felt the same way.
Self validation isn’t validation.
Taken off the Al Franken fan club page?

To make it simple for you its spelling police, not grammar.
You didn’t use their, there, they’re incorrectly, you spelled the name wrong.
BTW, where are your seats for your “season tickets”? I don’t believe they have any seats on cloud nine.
There is no doubt sports fans make for good psychological studies.
I don’t doubt for a second there is some deep rooted survival instinct in a number of fans that cause them to distance themselves from the home team when they’re perceived as not being successful (akin to some tribal hunting or war party). The irony in this is you probably have a better chance of having your community looted and burned if you actually win a championship.
Well the Jets put an exclamation point on it last night. Very impressive win, I have to say I found it somewhat enjoyable for the Jets to close it out in front of the Assville jackass fans. I wonder if they’ll now spend the next 10 years booing Stasny every time he touches the puck?
I happy for the Jets fans, they really love their team and they’re not d!cks about it. I think they’ve got their shot, I think they polish off Vegas in 6.
There’s going to be a great series out east, Tampa v Caps. Very difficult to even try to predict this one. Are the Caps emotionally spent after (finally) getting past the Pens? Or have the Caps finally got it hitting on all playoff cylinders? This one goes 7 I’d have to think. Very difficult to see one of these teams just driving over the other.
Pretty exciting playoffs so far.

You also need to question the intelligence of anyone who continues to spend that much money on such a poor product.

Hockey Hacks…just poke one then sit back and watch
I hate to keep cutting in with comments on hockey, but did anyone watch that Tampa/Washington game last night. Yikes! WTH was up with Tampa? They looked like a team from Equador’s B League for the first 40 minutes.
Not sure what was going on there. Layoff too long between series?
Ovechkin is finally playing all in. He seems to be playing like he knows that this is THE chance. Caps are really just stacked with talents. I hope to see the Wild at that talent level some day, what a difference a #1 pick makes.
Jets vs Vegas tonight.

They played exactly how they did against Boston game 1 before ripping off 4 straight.
