The Wild seem erily quiet about Greenway playing at all this season. If he returns to school and plays college hockey next season would he then be eligible to sign with any team?

Greenway inked and Mitchell reassigned to Iowa.

The wild aren’t in a position for tryouts right now so it’ll be interesting how they use him.

worse case scenario he just practices with the team…it’s not like we were getting anything out of Mitchell anyways… I doubt they put him in the Predators game without practicing at all with the team, but sometimes trail by fire works best…He’ll be a 4th line guy right now anyways, throw his weight around and get in front of the net…

if you watched the Olympics, you know how he can play physical…

I agree, but I think he could see some time on the PP. He is enormous! IMO his game lends itself better the NHL than NCAA so it will be interesting to see if it comes to fruition.

Greenway will play, it’s just a matter of how much – he didn’t sign this fast just to sit in the pressbox.

Looks like they’ll probably give him a top 9 role and see how it goes from there. The kid is huge and moving to center this year really cranked up his game, hopefully this will be a good shot in the arm for the playoffs.

That is good news. I am excited to see him suit up. Not expecting a lot, but the player(s) he would be bumping out we haven’t been getting much from anyway. So, whether it is Ennis or Mitchell…

Foligno, Greenway and Ek are going to be a formidable 4th line in the playoffs. They may not score much, but they’ll wear on the other team defense and forwards.

Agreed! I think E2E has really been solid the last month and change. His faceoff percentage has gone way up too. He has been over 50% which is huge. BB will trust him in important D zone faceoffs more now.

Great comeback for a point, but when there’s an extra point on the line and your 3 shootout shooters lose the puck, miss the net, miss the net on their attempts, you just shake your head…

I know shootout lineups are typically decided by who’s scoring them in practice, but how on earth do you not give Staal a chance???

Greenway looked scared and overwhelmed all game, hopefully that’s now out of his system….

I agree, but it wasn’t just him. The whole freakin team looked that way last night.:???: That was some sloppy hockey, but they managed a point, I was happy with that result.

Rinne made a save on all 3 shots. He got a piece of Parise’s shot, got a piece of Koivu’s shot and Nino bobbled it and just swung at it.

Don’t listen to those two clowns on the air. The clearly never pay attention to what is happening in the ice.

I know I bitched and moaned every time Koivu did his patented backhand in shootouts, but WHY HASNT HE DONE IT LATELY?!
He hasn’t done it once all season.

it’s kinda the vibe this team has had all season, they look like they are playing like crap, yet they manage a point and maintain being a top 5 team in the West…

Nashville is not an easy place to play and they are in 1st place for a reason, the Wild managed to weather the storm and grabbed a big point to maintain their cushion for a playoff spot…

Not sure how they have looked so bad in OT lately. Why not give Zucker a chance… a guy with some speed??

He’s had plenty of chances, he doesn’t play a strong enough possession game or tight enough defense to do well in 3 on 3 OT.

Chart below is per “The Athletic” and looks at 3 on 3 OT goals for/against since the 2015-16 season.

Awesome win by the Wild tonight against the Texass Team Rustlers.

The game was almost unwatchable due to the MSNBC announcers CONSTANTLY talking about the Dallas #1 line. Benn, Benn, Benn, Seguin, Radulov, Benn, blah, blah, blah. They could NOT quit talking about how awesome this line is. Oh they’re so great, Benn is “the best player in hockey”. That was a quote, they actually said that of a player whose team has lost 10 straight in the closing games of a playoff race.

Riddle me this, dumbass MSNBC announcers. If they’re so damn great why did they get lit up for 3 of the 5 goals tonight? That’s right, the Wild burned this totally awesome Dallas line for 3 goals. Total defensive liability. You could say it was actually 4 because I believe they were all on the ice when the Wild torched them for an empty netter. Dallas is a one line pony and a major underperformer and the Wild eliminated them.

Really a good all-around effort. Wild did not get off to a good start but made adjustments very successfully. Very important to see the Wild demonstrate some “don’t panic” resiliency and keep their heads in the game.

    Huge win for the Wild.

Russo was on the radio this morning and said last night the media were told that the Wild would hold a press conference to say for sure on Monday. He did also say that the last few times the Wild played on a Saturday night with a Sunday off they said they’d announce it Monday and they ended up coming out with it Sunday, so maybe we’ll hear today.

If its true that Suter broke his fibula, that is 3 guys this year on this team. That has to be some sort of major bad luck.

tough tough luck, if Spurgeon doesn’t come back soon then there’s no way this team can progress in the playoffs, too much lost skill to overcome…it is what it is…minor bonus is that guys like Olofson/Seeler will get some major playoff experience minutes for a series..

It will be good to see Soucy get some time up here. With Greenway, Soucy, and Seeler, we have some legitimate beef in the lineup for a change. I wouldn’t say Greenway is an overly physical player yet, but they are all a far cry from the “smurfs” that BB called the team when he got here. LOL
I don’t think Spurgeon is going to be back any time soon. He isn’t even skating yet. Rumor on KFAN last week was that he would miss the first round of the playoffs most likely. Ugh.
I think we will lost in the first round in 3 games.

Pioneer Press reports Suter has broken ankle

In other news the Sedin twins announced that they will retire at the end of Vancouver’s season. Wow. Tough pair to lose.

Nice game by the Wild tonight. To quote the late, mediocre Denny Green, the Oilers were who we thought they were. Offensively gifted, extremely defensively challenged. Lots of stats tonight about McDavid with over 100 points for the second year in a row and yet Oilers aren’t even in sight of the playoffs. Another team proving that in today’s NHL, you can’t just play offense.

Great to see Doobs get a shutout and Parise firing on all cylinders.

With the defensive shuffle of the deck, the Wild didn’t look too bad. Tegg pointed out very rightly that Murphy needs to learn to hold on to the puck and stop giving it up so easily on contact. Other than that, a reasonable D effort.

The unofficial word on Suter is badly broken ankle that must be surgically repaired. Done for season.

The Wild have clinched the playoffs. Not locked in to a seed yet, but they made it.
I thought our young D played extremely well! Soucy looks to be the real deal. Seeler continues to be rock solid. Honestly, where would this team be without Prosser? I have ripped him on occasion in the past, but that guy has solidified the bottom pair and really the reason for the turn around from the early part of the season with Quincey.
Dumba still being Dumba, he HAS to take less risks offensively with Suter being out, but last night he made several mistakes and had turnovers that led to scoring chances. You take the bad with the good, but man he really has to cut down on those, it will cost us in the playoffs.

I can’t believe they ever let Prosser walk. He’s the perfect #7 defenseman. I guess if you are a team looking to let a prospect develop in that role sure, but you’d be hard pressed to find a #7 guy who embraces his role and isn’t a liability out there.

It’s not all doom and gloom for the Wild. Odder things have happened.

Parise seems to be back on his game just in time for the playoffs when he thrives.

Dubnyk tends to put a team on his back when there is trouble too.

It was almost sickening the way the announcers groveled over that line, yet they played 90% of their shifts in the defensive zone! It was awesome when Parise out right tackled McDoushebag in front of the net rotflol .

I am again not at all impressed with Murphy, way to many turnovers in the defensive zone. Dumba had a couple too, that crap has to stop. A playoff team will make you pay for every single one of those flame

Soucy was good and not at all intimidated by being up in the biggs. Seeler continues to impress. He is physical, smart and makes good decision.

I believe I said it before, but so far Seeler has really surprised me. When he played for the Gophers I didn’t say any of that. He really developed into a solid D man. He was physical in college and would take too many penalties, but so far he has kept his cool and not done much of that at all. Really relishing in the opportunity.
