OK, this was driving me nuts because for the life of me I couldn’t recall Suter shooting. So I watched the recording.

    After fruther review…

BOTH of you imagined Suter in the shootout. It was Coyle, Stewart, Koivu, Staal, Grandlund

Suter came out to protest after that Calgary player appeared to drag the puck backwards, but he didn’t shoot.

    Grouse

Ha! That is right!!! I remember seeing him out there, but didn’t remember him shooting. WTF, I wasn’t even drinking during the game. LOL

My wife must have spiked my koolaid because I wasn’t intentionally drinking, but I knew I saw him out there. Maybe Coyle’s feeble attempt at a shoot out try made me think it was Suter.:???: jester

Suter was on the ice, but he was arguing with the ref about the legality of Goudreau’s goal because he carried the puck backwards toward the corner before flipping it up over Stalock.

I find it rather interesting that Grouse stayed up until 9:30 at night just to prove me wrong toast

Yeah, I do remember him out there protesting now. Maybe he should have taken the attempt rather than Charlie doah

Seems the Wild are starting to turn it around. Let’s see if they can finish this home stand with two teams they should beat. Would certainly like to see them pull their heads out of their behinds and play some good hockey.

They face the Maple Leafs and Oilers. Leafs are 2nd in their Division and only 3 teams in the NHL have more points than they do. I would hardly see them as a team they “should” beat when looking at records.
Oilers are way underachieving, but can score with anyone.
These will be 2 tough games and if the Wild play like they did against Calgary they will get smoked.

They’ll play better. The first game home from a road trip is very similar to the first game of a road trip. Most teams struggle a bit.

I did a little Google search and found the win % is slightly over 50%. At first glance you might say there is no effect, however a 500 record at home is not good. You’d expect the % games won to be higher. Plus, as you saw with the Wild, just because they won, it doesn’t mean they played well.

It’s harder to play poorly and win then it is to play well and win.

All I’m saying is with the Wild’s payroll, esteemed head coach, and recent postseason appearances, I think the expectation is that the Wild should be one of the top handful of teams in the NHL. With that said, I think they “should” beat those two teams on home ice.

They haven’t looked good to me all year…. so we’ll see.

Yeah, just wait for when the start playing well. They are only 11-4-1 in their last 16. They will really start pounding teams.

It wasn’t that. It’s just that the game was boring, but I couldn’t believe I had missed that Suter was in the shootout. That doesn’t happen very often to say the least, so it just had me questioning if I had just dreamed that I was awake at that point.

The nice thing about following a new team is I haven’t figured out who the goats are. Granted, it’s hard to find a goat when the team is off to the start they are on. It’s nice just to watch and root without being to micro critical.

Wild, all they do is win baby!
Pretty solid effort, much better than the game against Calgary.
Dubnyk with a mild MCL sprain. Shouldn’t be out too long, but this is Stalock’s crease for the foreseeable future. Glad to see he is getting a shot and that he got to stick it to the Leafs who screwed him over 2 years ago.

Wow, sad. I’m glad they’ve pretty much gotten rid of enforcers. There are just too many sad stories.

I saw that last week and it is just awful! There was another former player, Stephen Peat that was living on the streets and an addict. That story came out a couple months back. It is really sad, but I cannot help but cringe at the “Wild” connection to Johnson and Boogaard. This story about Johnson was sort of damming to the team physician. Hopefully he is no longer around based on some of those allegations.

That one summer was horrible. Was it 2011 with Rypien and Belak being the other 2?

2011 sounds about right. Didn’t Belak jump to his death? Man, someone needs to step up and help these guys. The NHL has been eerily silent, which is why you see these stories because they are trying to bring up the awareness.
Paul Karya is living a secluded life due to his concussion issues too. Granted his were not the result of fists, but the long term prognosis for some of these professional athletes is gloomy.

This is tragic. There’s a thing called CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) that is starting to get into news headlines. More than likely Matt has it? It comes from too many blows to the head.
Here’s a list of some of the symptoms
    Difficulty thinking
    Impulsive behavior
    Depression or apathy
    Short term memory loss
Difficulty planning and carrying out tasks
    Emotional instability
    Substance abuse
    Suicidal thoughts or behavior

Some other suspected symptoms…Aggression, irritation, speech problem, motor impairment, trouble swallowing, vision problems, dementia.
I’ve been suffering from concussion symptoms the last 4 months myself and doctors can’t figure anything out. I’ve had multiple concussions and blows to the head in my lifetime. I’m starting to think that I have CTE but really can’t be truly diagnosed at this point until after death. There’s 4 stages of it.

Hopefully they can find Matt and get him some help before it’s too late.

Hope you get better. Brain issues are no joke. And it’s difficult for those without the issues to really truly understand.

Thx mplspug. You are absolutely right..it’s no joke and many people don’t understand including myself. I didn’t think anything of all the concussions and blows to my head until now that I’m having all these issues. It’s now even to the point where I can’t drive let alone even ride, without completely feeling like crap, to see doctors. Been a long 4 months and no end in sight. Trying to get into the Mayo to hopefully get this resolved, if possible. At this point I’m just hoping to get back a somewhat normal life.

Thx captainmusky. Been trying to figure out how to get in touch with Matt’s family because somebody has to do something before this becomes another Keith hernandez thing. If anybody knows of anyway, please let me know.

Ok just read a good article on Matt from TSN. His mother is wondering if it’s related to CTE, so at least she knows about it. I hope they can get him some help before it’s too late. Such a sad story

You can’t be serious! Are you watching tonight’s game? Pathetic!!!!!!! Sure they had a good steak previous to this past weekend but they do not have enough talent to sustain a run for the rest of the season. Are you happy if the get in as an 8 seed? I am not! I see Pittsburg is making trades tonight. A defending Stanley Cup Champion already making trades to better their team for another run. Minnesota? (insert cricket noise here)

Get rid of Fletcher, #9 and #20 now!

Glad to see they came back against Ottawa last night. I watched the first period plus some of the second, but it was so BORING I shut it off. Honestly all the Wild games I’ve watched this year have been painfully BORING. The additions, Winnick, Foligno, and Ennis all seem WEAK. Glad Foligno got benched, hopefully that wakes him up.

I’m not giving up hope yet, but pretty frustrated. Hopefully last night’s comeback rally gives a spark they need.

TB could put up 10 or more goals and I wouldn’t be shocked at all. Crazy good skill on that team. Envious.

Is it the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Moscow lightning. Every player on the team is Russian. Couldn’t they find one guy from Canada at least?
