Price definitely looks like he has some issues. Not sure if it is an injury or something else, but the way he came over on that first goal was like a bantam goalie or BigGill ;P. My brother’s said he looked disinterested.

That was a good win in terms of beating a team we should beat and hopefully helping Dumba to get back on track.
Price has come unglued which just shows how fickle this game is. Worldbeater last year, can’t find his puck with both hands this year.
Doobs has been pretty shaky at times this year as well, but you know what? I’m fine with that. The way the NHL and especially the west is right now, we just need to stay in touch with a playoff slot and NOT play like our asses are on fire the whole season. The Wild have been burning the candle on both ends for 4 years now and flaming out just in time for the playoffs. We need to ramp up as the season goes on, not die at the finish line.

I would agree with this, however, I just hope Doobs can pull it together when it counts. Seems he has a long history of letting soft goals in. That 3rd goal he allowed last night to give Montreal life was just stupid.
November 3, 2017 at 6:25 pm #1725311Why couldn’t you reference DT instead?
We’ve fished together. That gives me the right.
Price has a lower body injury.
I wouldn’t worry about Doobs either. That 3rd goal was baaaaad, but I wouldn’t worry.

November 4, 2017 at 9:46 pm #1725477Sorry I turned the game on NHL Network bonus coverage at about the 11 minute mark. The jinx lives.

3-3 homestand is not what they needed, maybe they go on the road and figure out a steady roster that can compete as a entire team. Right now they see fracture and unaware of what their own teammates tendencies are.deertracker

I didn’t see the goal but Pugs assessment is spot on…..
DTNovember 7, 2017 at 9:56 am #1726018The Wild are dead last in the division. What’s the excuse for last night’s loss?
November 7, 2017 at 11:25 am #1726041It’s really hard to point to the one or two things that are doing it. There are some D lapses, there’s some missed connections on offense, there’s some bad puck luck, there’s ….
We seem to need a higher level of play everywhere right now. O, D, and goaltending. Not a good situation, but it’s not like the pieces aren’t there, it’s just that for some reason the car is firing on 2 cylinders right now.
It was bad luck having that puck bounce off a D man’s skate and into the net. We had a tie game except for that one play which is hard to blame anyone for. Just a funk, tough to really say what can be done.

InactivePosts: 157November 9, 2017 at 11:48 am #1726690Is this just a slump? or is this really one of those seasons that a team falls apart completely. The injuries have slowed them down, but it is hard to pin all the losses on that. Not sure all is well with Dubes, he sure seems to be fighting every shot.
November 9, 2017 at 1:02 pm #1726722I’m hoping this is THE slump.. Its getting hard to watch. Duuubs didn’t look so great last night. I’m starting to get concerned. Offense looks like there is a lot of communication missing. Bad blind passes, offensive zone turn overs, lack of scoring. Defense honestly looks horrible at times. What happened to boxing out in front of the net and helping out. Hopefully they can get their act together and get a couple W’s in a row. It won’t be long, playing like this, and the Playoffs will out of reach..
November 9, 2017 at 2:12 pm #1726744Granted I haven’t watched much, but it sure seems like the slump. It doesn’t seem to matter how good or bad they play or who their opponent is, they can’t win. That’s exactly how it has felt through the slumps of yester seasons. Granted, you are missing 2 top 6 forwards, it’s going to be difficult.
Unfortunately, at the soonest you’ll get one back in a month. You can’t bleed that long, the team needs to step it up.

I couldn’t agree more Pug. Last night was a much better overall game. Gotta give Zucker an Atta Boy for his first career Hatty and Duuubs for the stellar play we are all looking for! 41 shot shutout is pretty impressive!!

last season at this time Zucker was the most likely Candidate to be left unprotected and be in LV. That play Granlund made on Zuckers 1st goal was pretty, and the breakaway speed of Zucker form center-ice to the goal was amazing.
November 10, 2017 at 3:43 pm #1727065Remember 2 or 3 seasons ago Zucker had 21 goals in 51 games? And he did it all with 1 PP PP goal. After that I thought he’d score 40 at some point in his career. Now I am beginning to think it is possible again. I’m not saying this year, but once in the next 5 years.
November 12, 2017 at 9:42 am #1727377It was only a matter of time before Doobs would start carrying the team on his back, I guess. We probably should have seen this coming.

DTYou are the anti-pug.
The goalie need to steal at least 1-2 games per months to be a contender. I’m feeling better about the team for the moment but they still have some work to do. I’m not worried one bit about the season. Come January if they are still In this funk, I’ll get worried.

Unless you’re Arizona there’s no real reason to get too uptight in the Western Conference. Lots of time left in the season for players to have a bout with the mumps.

Posts: 25229November 13, 2017 at 3:25 pm #1727749They have played much better the last 3 games, but only have 2 wins to show for it. Dubs has looked a lot more engaged in those games as well. It really seems he tends to get up for the “goal tender” match up games. Shutdown the Pens when facing Murray, Elliot has been owning the Wild and Dubs certainly won that matchup too. Played far better than Price in the first MTL matchup, but Lindgren was stellar in the second MTL matchup, but the Wild still prevailed thanks to Zucker.
Its quite funny if you have followed the “drama” around Zucker and the birth of his child. Boudreau made the comment prior to the road trip that he looked “tired” didn’t have “legs” and probably “wasn’t getting much sleep with the newborn”. Well, his wife joins KFAN weekly and she said he sleeps in the guest room.
Get this, ALL of his goals have come on the road and obviously had a huge road trip.
His wife has been getting a lot of trash talking on twitter and is taking it in stride. Like this gem: “The doors are locked. It’s been a good run, husband, but you’re never allowed home” lolreelman

Posts: 25229November 15, 2017 at 8:49 am #1728146Other than Dubnyk playing out of his mind last night it was a pretty boring game. 12 seconds in Nino gets one when the smoke hadn’t even cleared the building. After that it was pretty uneventful offensively.
BTW, I still hate Hakstol.November 15, 2017 at 11:09 am #1728201Uneventful in terms of scoring, but it’s good to see the Wild return to what made them so good in the middle of last year–stingy D. Lots of good shot blocking and sticks in the lanes breaking up passes and taking away plays.
Also good to see the Wild continue to grind it in with empty netters. I’m still probably traumatized from 3 years ago when they couldn’t score an empty-netter to save their lives, but there’s nothing better than that soul-crushing empty netter (or 2) to send teams on their way.
As Tegg says, this early in the season there’s still plenty of time to climb the standings with as little spread as there is between teams.
Finally, can we just cut the BS and finally declare the obvious: That AZ is moving to Quebec after next season? Why does the league have to drag out the pain and agony of the obviously wrong decision to overexpand in non-hockey southern markets like AZ and FL? It’s an embarrassment to the sport to see AZ and FL play to half full arenas and on top of that 20% of the crowd is wearing the opponent’s sweater.
Obviously, we will all have to endure the whining of the Detroit fans when Detoilet gets pushed back into the west because of the move.

Yeah, I agree. Not much scoring, but the way the Wild played didn’t give the Flyers much to work with. Dubnyk still made some tremendous saves. Man, there were several where he had multiple save sequences that were sure goals the majority of the time. He is seeing the puck well. I will take these “boring” games any day if the notch in the W column keeps going up.
Regarding standings, I think we still have a few games in hand as well. The Blues have floundered a bit lately. They were far and away the best Goals Against team, but the last couple they have gotten blitzed.

Yes, the Wild are only 9 games back of the Blues, but with 2 fewer games played as well, 17 vs 19.
Nashville has won 5 in a row to make a big move. Now’s the time for the Wild to make a steady move to get in touch with the playoff spots.
