With Las vegas on a roll; any word on Tuch is he even on their roster?

Yes he is, must have been recetly called up. Only played 4 games.

They did beat the Blackhawks last night.

Tuch scored in his first game up. In other “former Wild” news, Haula has a lower body…

I don’t know. Last night’s game was really lame. Shutout at home against the Canucks?? Far too many games where they don’t show up. I’m not throwing in the towel, but they don’t look good right now. Who’s even the leader of the team??? Hard to tell isn’t it?

not a good effort last night…I won’t pass judgement until they get into the swing of things having games spread out through the week…not really an excuse, but the first 3 weeks of their schedule was really dumb…

I was hoping to exit the homestand at 4-2, I didn’t see a loss to the Canucks however.
I’m not trying to be a smart a$$ here, can someone explain the reason to give someone a thirteen years contract? Is it a way to pay more with less immediate financial pain to the team?

Yes, that was the ploy that GMs did, but with the change to the CBA the teams who have those deals were penalized in a sense if the player doesn’t play the full term. They have a cap recapture clause built in now.
So Parise and Hossa for the Hawks both fall into this category potentially with career threatening injuries. The contracts are all front end loaded, but its averaged out over the length of the term. $7.568MM per (or close to it) is the cap hit for Parise over all 13 years, but in reality it was MUCH higher than that early on and at the end its like 1MM per.

Per Russo article in The Athletic (great sports news site btw!)

They interviewed a surgeon who routinely does the same procedure Parise had..

“I suspect they’re not going to let him come back for a very long time,” said Wills, who practices at Summit Orthopedics in Eagan and Woodbury, Minn. “He’s not a guy that glides around the ice. He gets in there and he gets dirty — sticks to the back, gets hit all the time and he’s always standing in front of the net. And when you do that, you even have more risk for recurrent disk herniation.”

So it looks like Zack will likely be out 3+ months or more… i’m guessing they let him sit out this season with the hope that the added rest reduces the likelihood he has another one in the future and can’t play out his contract.. Lose this season for hopefully getting 4-5 good seasons after it…

I suspect he’s done for the season, but I don’t see how sitting will extend his career much. It’s not like his spine is going to get stronger sitting out a year.

i’m just saying it’s their last hope…sit him out for an extended duration (season). If he hurts it again afterwards it’s over…

I’m just wondering how hard it is to get Wild Tickets ?
    Here’s the situation
Saturday Dec 2nd my daughter wants to go to a collage visit at NCU
I see that the wild are in town and playing the Blues (my sons favorite team)
We were thinking about trying to get tickets. How expensive and how hard would it be to get tickets ?

    Thanks

Depends on how much you will want to pay. Just a quick ticketmaster check showed tickets available but the cheapest were for $86 in the upper deck.

Agreed 10x. Signed up last week and it is incredible the stuff out there. Now they added AP Jon Kryzinzki for Wolves coverage and some Britt guy I didn’t know about, but those two are incredible for local stuff.
Russo is the best in the business and it was worth it just for his stuff, but now even moreso.

Watching the Wild for the first time this season on TV. The color guy who I can’t stand and also can’t remember his name isn’t on tonight. Is he gone forever or just missing tonight’s game?

I suspect Walz will be the new color guy. Greenlay is not that good.

It’s too bad Reid and Kurtz can’t do TV.

Wild are doing a pretty good job without Parise, Coyle and Nino. How about a Wild v Bolts Cup Final?!?!

Before there’s a huge hate thread on Dumba, Suter made the same drop pass mistake last season, the only difference is that they didn’t score on it…I hate that Powerplay break out…

lots of point blank shots that missed the net by a few feet last night…

Except Dumba causes multiple breakaways each game.

Way to go Fletch, we could still have Haula and Tuch while giving away Dumpa.

I actually just saw a replay. NHL Network carried the 3rd period, but didn’t start until after that goal.

What I saw was the same Wild we have seen before who could not finish. Maybe Hellebuyck was in their heads by the time I was watching? And when I say seen before, I am not saying same ole, same ole. I am saying we have seen it in games and stretches before. It happens to all teams.

One thing I did find interesting was seeing guys trying to stickhandle the puck through the D to try and get to the front of the net. I haven’t seen that much in the past, they always seemed more willing to pass it off or dump it.

I also heard the Refs sucked? There weren’t any calls that I remember in the 3rd, so I don’t know.

He’s an offensive defenseman, there will always be risk to his game, but that’s the tradeoff for having an additional offensively skilled player on the ice…Brodin should be covering for Dumba more often, but Brodin hasn’t had a good start to his season either…

He’s still young…you take the good with the bad and hope the bad gets better…from what i’ve watched, the coaches haven’t put the breaks on his offense as he still rushes the puck at will, maybe that’s the next step, maybe they sit him out a game or two to watch from the press box?…

He still needs to take care of the puck better even if he’s an offensive defenceman. From what I hear it hasn’t just been last night, he and Brodin, as you say, have had a rough start.

One of the reasons I liked him originally when he was playing for Red Deer was that he was supposed to have an edge to his game. That hasn’t materialized. He’s still young, but this is what his 4th full season?

And that bonehead move he made was at even strength 4 on 4.

Yes, he is youngish, but he has been around long enough that he shouldn’t be making the rookie mistakes he is. Regarding being “an offensive” defensemen I agree. He is OFFENSIVE as in I get so offended each time he gets put out there and I have to become irate when he makes more mistakes. He has had multiple this year that has led directly to goals including the “drop pass” last night. Another one was when he left the front of the net to go into the corner/behind the net leaving someone wide open. Those are mistakes you see in Squirts. Not at this level.
I’m tired of also hearing about his offensive upside and his shot. So far all his shot has done for us this year is break Coyle’s leg!

I agree with this. I do think this season he has hurt them far more than helped them. He sat much of the 3rd period after that. As much as I’d want to trade him, I hate trades. Even if he gets things together and his trade value increases, why trade an asset for an unknown? A trade would be shocking if you ask me.

He needs to work on his defensive play because it is horrible right now and his offensive risks are hurting them very badly. This team is missing too many key players to give up a stupid goal here and there.

When the Wild start scoring 4-5 goals a game I’ll settle down, until then, he needs to straighten up.

The refs were not that good. They called Foligno for embellishment when he was slashed in the back of the legs with a two-hander.
Other than that I don’t really remember other blatant bad calls, but I am sure there were more.

Hmm, it did seem like it was mostly jet fans whining.

    Found a Video

WTF! If they call that then they need to call an embellishment penalty every time a player snaps his head back and puts his glove to his face on a high stick.

I’m going to guess that Dumba got the message Bruce was sending last light. On the radio today I heard a “source close to the team” said that Bruce made his feelings about Dumba’s play very, very clear.

Bummer that the mistake cost us the game, but Dumba’s hardly the first or the last to have to do that walk of shame.
