Since the great I am all in Fetcher Fleecing
8 w’s to close out the season.
0-3!! “at home!! in the Playoffs!!” doah

The beast called Hanzal was the slowest player on the ice. On a team that was built for speed,he was an anchor dragging in the sand.

The Wilds Roster Can not compete at a Stanley Cup winners level.

Is this the same great hockey mind that said Chitown would win it all!? Ya, Hanzal’s the reason we lost………….

Defense. Their d was better than ours by a long shot. Not that theirs was that good, ours was that bad. And a soft goal in every loss sealed the deal.

Our d looked bad ever since the winning streak. They need more size and more defensive minded d.

Is it just me or did Suter and Spurgeon really S the bed these playoffs? And I’m not just talking about that last goal. I can’t get stats easy on my phone from NHL.com, but what were their +/-?

The happiest guy today is Mike Yeo.

They lost because they are not good enough to compete at that level.
Hanzal gave up the puck on The winning goal.

Hanzal gave up the puck on The winning goal.

Doobs is responsible for the turnover. I hate when goalies ring the puck around to an opposing player. I’d be willing to bet they result in goals 5-10% of the time.

Wild (according to earned points…) had the 5th best team in the NHL going into the playoffs. Uumm…Ya i’d say they are good enough to play at that level…

Hanzel had the puck on the boards, then gave it up to Sobotka

Get rid of RS, he’s a cancer.

ZP is as over paid as home town Joe M. One or two more years and he’s a home town novelty, nothing more, with no cup credit.

There’s not much this team can do to drastically change the direction it’s going. RS and ZP are nice players but are over rated and over paid, with to many mental issues. Happy for Yeo. Class act and completely out coached the wilds staff. This proves to me this was never about coaching. We’ve got young talent coming up, but there’s not much room for improvement short term. The stars on the team have 3 years tops before they are over the hill. Still a fun season, much reminiscent of Vikings first round departures under Green. Good teams, just never great and constantly under performing when it mattered.

What “level” should they be playing at oh great knee hockey mind? You said they shouldn’t be playing at that level. What level then??? (Everyone get ready for another of his brilliant comebacks that will surely have at least one character face…)

The Wilds Roster Can not compete at a Stanley Cup winners level.

Well, they’re certainly not the “Class of the West” like your Chicago Blackhawks, I’ll give you that.

It’s always disappointing to close out a successful season without going to round 2, but it’s hard to fault St. Louis because they played excellent hockey when it counted. I had a lot of fun going to games this year, it was a terrific ride when the Wild were playing well. Which, of course, is difficult for this or any team to maintain and in the end it’s WHEN we played well that made the difference. We had our A game when the playoffs were still 3-4 months away.

In the offseason, here’s what I think the key questions are:

    – Fletcher – does he stay or does he go? The Wild ownership have got to be asking the question, is he the man going forward.

    – Speed or size. Pick one. Wild fans are notorious for wanting both and b!tching about the one we don’t have at the moment. How many complaints have we seen about the Wild being too small for a netfront presence and now Hanzel’s too slow. Obviously, Bruce has a preference so it will be interesting if the Wild start turning the ship in that direction.

    – Personell changes. We need to make a few moves.

First off is Coyle – Expose him to the expansion, or whatever, just quit wasting time on an overpaid 18 regular season goal guy. He had 3 goals in the last 20 some games and missed 2 prime chances in Game 1 of the playoffs. Some fans were just in love with him because of size, but his production doesn’t justify his seat on the bus.

Hanzel and White are rentals and I can’t see either being signed.

Obviously, the priority to sign is Grandlund. I don’t think Pominville can be bought out this summer, so we’re a little tied up as far as potential moves unless there’s a multi player deal in the works.

I have to say overall this season outperferformed my expectations. I was thinking a middle of the pack finish with the playoffs being out of our reach by 7 points or more. It didn’t end at the right time but it was a lot of fun to go to games this season.

Not the result I wanted to see, but I am very pleased with the Wild overall this season. Not everyone gets to move on to the next round, part of life. They gave it one hell of an effort. Until next year boys, keep your stick on the ice!!

ps. I am still glad Yeo is gone smash

Chicago has already come out and called their season a failure.
Leadership leads, recognizes failures, and makes changes.

We made the playoffs…14 teams didn’t…

My point isn’t “Yes! We made the playoffs lets celebrate!” but just wait and see…If Nashville makes it to the finals (I predicted that before the Cup started, not in print though!) will you be saying that they should be playing at that level? Didn’t think so. Teams go far and teams fall short. It happens both ways man! If we are looking at the playoffs they stepped back. For the season (2nd in the West…) they stepped forward.

As a season tix holder I had a blast watching Wild hockey. I slumped in my chair when St Louis scored that goal to end the season. But after the handshakes as the Wild held their sticks high saying thanks to the fans I cheered and thanked them for a heckuva’ lot of fun this year…RR

Go ahead and celebrate, Round 2 begins in several days and the Wild will not be going annywhere for the 5th year in a row.

If Nashville makes it to the finals bow (I predicted that before the Cup started, not in print though!)

    bow

So if Nashville loses your hockey credentials will be destroyed?

If we are looking at the playoffs they stepped back. For the season (2nd in the West…) they stepped forward.

The regular season never has and never will carry much weight, constantly being flushed form the playoffs should make you realize just where your team stands as compared to the rest of the league.

    I doubt that…RR

Yes it sucks that the season is over, the Wild played good enough to win each game against the blues, they just couldn’t bury their chances…the future looks bright with this team as the younger players all took big steps forward in terms of career years and all the blue chip prospects will start knocking on the door soon oh and our bad contracts are almost up…
