I liked both guys. Neither were extraordinary, but those teams back then weren’t either.

Ek assigned to AHLdue to immigration problems and cap. I just read the title, I don’t have the details.

My 2 favorite players are Russian. Kucherov and Tarasenko.

I am looking forward to this season starting, so much in fact I am going to the sharks opener tonight to check out the shark tank. Monday night I was at AT&T field to watch the cubs game, and the view from that stadium is amazing, but the stadium feels like it is 100 years old.

Sweet! It’s fun checking out other arenas, not just the layout, but the presentation and experience. I need to make it down to Sunrise for a Panthers game. My experience at Tampa, aside from having the usher come simmer me down for getting into it with some fans on a disputed goalie interference call, was awesome. You can spend some time in Thunder Alley outside the arena before the game and have a few. If you get there early enough you’ll find the opposition players waling down the street to get to the arena. Inside the arena was pretty good, but the X is better. I was really excited to see the tesla coils go off, but I was nonplussed. Maybe because I wasn’t close enough to them or I expected some giant bolts to come from them.

SAP arena is a nice building. Many of the fans seemed to be lacking in hockey knowledge, but heck it is California. We met several great fans. I was sitting up top and the only put off were many of the fans cheering when a referee was injured. Other than those classless fans it was a fun night.

    #slm…striped lives matter.

NHL center ice preview not working last night, so I may not get a chance to watch the first game.

That Austin Matthews seems like an ok player )

Mathews has an NHL body. I think the kid will have a decent NHL career, but I really see McDavid being the one to watch. He is so fluid when he skates and the hands. Man.
Regarding the Wild. I am intrigued by the addition of another Fin. Lets hope this one can score on a more regular basis. The good news, as others have pointed out is he is a right shot. Lots of lefties in the forward group. Its funny when you read Facebook comments from “fans” about news like this. One guy said “he is an older Vanek”. Uh, what?! Referring to his deficiency on the D side of the ice…
The Wild are very close to the cap right now. Just a shade over $400k under. So, they enter game 1 with 22 players (instead of 23) on roster to save some space.
I hope Ek stays here this year. I haven’t heard definitively one way or the other if he would go back or not. I think having him here would boost all of Iowa’s development. Tuch is going to see some NHL time.

I feel like Matthews and McDavid are both going to have stellar careers and similar ones. I think they will be the Ovi v. Crosby of the future and I am happy for Canada.

I think both will have similar production, but their styles are a little different, based on the small sample size I have seen.

That second goal by Matthews was a thing of beauty, although the goal was a little soft, he really worked for it. He evaded 3 Sens including All Star defenseman Karlsson. The first goal he kept the play alive and lifted the D stick with perfect timing to free himself. The 3rd goal he just put himself in a quiet area and sniped it and the fourth he just used his youthful legs to get behind the D on the 2 on 1.

Matthews seems to be more of a puck hound with great offensive IQ. For the other goals he put himself in the right position and finished. McDavid seems like more of a playmaker with speed with great hands that can finish.

With that first game out of the way, he’s going to get a lot more attention from the opposition.

One thing is for sure, these kids are going to be fun to watch.

Austin Matthews is absolutely the first player that actually reminded me of the way Gretzky played. Comparisons to Gretzky are a dime a dozen, but very few players resemble in any way the style in which Gretzky played until now.

Matthews last night, was like Gretzky. The way he handled that puck through spaces that weren’t there, the way he knew what the opposing player was going to do before he did it, etc. That was all pure Great One.

I saw a lot of Gretzky play and the most frustrating thing was how whenever the opponent really needed to strip him of the puck–even just stick check him and slow him down–he’d have one more stick trick and he’d STILL have the puck and then he’d score.

McDavid is a fine player, buy oh my, to see a rookie put on a skills clinic like Matthews did last night…

Of course, there is the delicious irony–in the purest possible sense of the word–of an American-born player, from Cali of all places, being greeted as Lord and Franchise Savior of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Try the fox sports go app to watch the game. Maybe that will work.

I’m excited to see Pulkkinen build chemstry with Granlund, the kid can absolutely shoot the puck, this is exactly the type of player Granlund needs to be successful, putting a pure passer with a pure shooter…I think we got an absolute steal off waivers…RedWing fans are tearing Ken Holland a new one for letting him go…

Thought about that, but I think it is automatically configured to your internet provider and/or they know what Foxs region you are in.

Its configured to your TV provider. I used it to watch one of the preseason games and I had to enter my DirecTV stuff to get it to work. I would think that if you don’t have that station available in your programming it will not work.

I wonder though. What if someone was on the road, like in another state, and wanted to watch? I knew you had to log on using your provider login, but what if I use my brothers login?

That should work provided you are in good terms with your brother. It shouldn’t matter where you are technically since that’s the beauty of the app. Take your programming with you.

I purchased a month of NHL.tv. It sucks. It’s ok on the iPad, but streaming to the TV is like watching an old recorded hockey game with the quality and frame rate.

It might be better if I can get it to work directly with my Apple TV, but that just gives me an error.

Wife said I can just get center ice. I’m just not sure I want to. It’s 10 now and I want to go to bed. Watching the lightning isn’t much better because their home games start at 7:30.

I’m sure I’ll go back and forth for a while. I think ultimately I’ll get center ice, but watch full games only Thursday-Sunday.

Shut it off and get some sleep, that’s what the Wild are doing. Terrible hockey tonight.

well that game didn’t generate much excitement for the season, but they did miss x amount of break-aways that could of turned the score around…

They definitely weren’t handling the puck very clean at all. The PK looked good. PP not so much. I thought Dubnyk played pretty good. The score could have been a lot worse. I think they will be just fine

It was a tough one to watch that’s for sure.. PP has to get better, PK looked pretty good, Dooobs needs to stay on his toes and I think they’ll be alright. Reilly looked horrible IMO… Coyle seemed to have a bunch of butter on his stick, couldn’t handle anything.. Hopefully it was just some opening game jitters. Was it me or did the puck seem to spend more time bouncing through the air than actually on the ice?

I’ve never thought Coyle was a very good stick handler, especially when being pressured or battling. Besides Reilly, I thought Dumba played poor. Also, Dalpe needs to pick it up.

They definitely need to start putting mustard on their passes. It’s a little spooky, because that game reminded me of how they play when slumping.

Obviously its the first game and no need to panic. I think despite the Blues playing the night before, they had the edge of a home opener and already having 60 minutes under their belt.

I’ll say it again, I like Boudreau willingness to change things up, hopefully he doesn’t over do it though.

Seriously who cares about the Wild right now, the season is way to long as it is. The team made no improvements besides getting a new coach. I wouldn’t expect much from them at all this year and the future.

I would rather focus my efforts on cheering for Vikes and TWolves, that’s where the excitement is now and will be.

Who cares about NBA. That is the most underwhelming sport out there. The ONLY time to watch is playoffs and we haven’t even sniffed the playoffs in what a decade? Longer? No idea, they haven’t been relevant for so long.
Its funny the NHL season is “too long” yet how many games do the NBA play? 82. Exactly the same number as the NHL.

Well the NBA is enjoyable to watch ) Honestly, I wouldn’t surprised if the NHL was non existent within the next 10 years. In all reality there is like 6 states who actually care about hockey. If Minnesota is such a great hockey state, then how come the stars moved…..

HAHA! I wouldn’t necessarily go that far….. Just an opinion, everyone is entitled to them. Sorry if offended any of you wild fans, I just don’t see with this team where you could get any excitement from. There were literally no changes made to the team besides the head coach and they were just an OK team last year. I believe everything that I have commented on are true facts.
