The thing about opener is its the highest population of birds for the season and they aren’t spooky yet so I enjoy getting out and generally have luck, regardless of all the people.
The number of hunters generally decreases as the season rolls along too which is nice.

Once December hits, there’s no one hunting pheasants anymore, the temps are much cooler, there’s sometimes a fresh snow, and the bag limit goes to three daily. My best hunting is the second half of the season, usually right after a fresh snow of an inch or two.
