Not on purpose. This is the time of year that those toothy suckers like to eat smallmouth right off my hook though. I’ll have to remember to start carrying my long pliers. Good luck though.

You ever tried wacky rigging for muskies. Saw the Yak Angler doing it and that did look kind of fun. People look at you different when your using an 18″ plastic worm.

Bahaha!! Wacky worms for bass looks silly but it definitely works. I can’t imagine how silly it must look doing that for muskies! jester

Minnesota gals are actually ahead of the curve when it comes to this. They’ve been wacky rigging for years. At least that’s what I’ve assumed all those large plastics are in their nightstands….

I’m going to go and try and use up some leeches and catch a few walleyes bobber fishing. I’m thinking I may throw in my musky gear and try to fish them a little. Last year around this time I had several of them try and eat a walleye or bass while reeling them in. Figured I might as well and try and fish some since I have all this $ tied up in the gear to just fish Pike 2 weeks a year.

Fishing Walleyes and Smallies all day tomorrow, then Muskies all day Saturday. Should be a nice time.

I will be out this weekend for mn opener. I fish the Wisconsin opener last weekend and boated a mid 40″ in the first half hr and moved another fish not long after. Spent the rest of the day covering water and never moved another fish.

Can’t complain about that. A sizable muskie on opener with another sighting is definitely a successful outing. Nice work

It took longer this year then the past few years. I have had multiple openers with a fish in the boat in under 5 casts. 2020 started out good with a 47 on my first cast. After opener though I’d hate to talk about the time spent with no fish. I am preparing the struggle bus for the next few trips out.

Gorgeous weather Saturday but fish were pretty slow. Saw a bunch of small ones in the spawning bays and only had one rip in the basin but fortunately it was a good one. Funny how this year with a mid march ice out the fish are still pre-spawn for opener when last year with an early may ice out out the fish were post spawn by opener.

More muskie anglers out than I can ever remember on opener. The basin boats were probably 50/50 between trolling and scoping, didn’t see any other fish landed though. Saw a net out once, but it was for a largemouth bass lol wtf rotflol

Sat morning had a little snot rocket on and the biggest musky I’ve ever seen boiled up. Huge fish, but I took off I had lost enough plastics to the pike.

Slow for us this weekend. Saw the first fish within a 100 yards for the landing waiting on the other guys to show up. My boat partner lost one boatside early in the day and the rest of the day we either saw fish that didn’t move or very lazy follows. Felt good to get the big fly rods out again.

This one couldn’t resist a jerkbait early this morning. Forgot the net so hand-landed her.

Just a reminder that the annual Metro Muskie Tournament is on Saturday and many of the lakes that are eligible will likely have a lot more pressure.

Good luck if anyone is partaking.

Not sure how many of you guys are fishing metro lakes but it has been a grind this month. Tons of follows but no eaters. Seen some real big ones too.

It’s been a grind for me on Vermilion too. I’ll time it right eventually though. This whole full time job thing just gets in the way.

Seeing plenty, just need to get a biter.

I haven’t been muskie fishing yet. I plan to go later this week though.

I normally don’t start fishing them until July. I’ll post a report when I am able to.

Nice fish guys! We had two guys get their first ever muskies when we were in Canada a couple weeks ago. 1 was a nice 47 and the other a 39, but that one was from in a kayak! Had to have been a blast!
