While encouraging folks to give MN Fish a chance to build its infrastructure doesn’t seem to be working? How about we start thinking about what it is as anglers that we would like to see better supported? A couple to things I’d like are:
Passage of the shoreline rules that haven’t been passed since Pawlenty tabled them?
An accounting of the DNR Receational fishing fund that is generated by watercraft registration fees.
Increased transparency of aquatic plant management and AIS programs. We continue to subsidize aquatic plant destruction for the benefit of lake shoreowners with dollars meant for Fisheries management.
Received this today from email sent April 27th. I think I am ready to cancel my contributions.
HI Tom,

We covered the true intentions of MN Fish in the Mille Lacs smallmouth thread, I think that’s all there is to say right?

You’re still contributing?
Based on Tiffany’s replies though, I’ll wager she’s a student intern.

A great start.
I would add trying to stop all the phosphorus and nitrogen that farmers Leach into our lakes and streams through drain tiles.
It’s hard to believe that the muddy Minnesota river was actually growing a green tint this year.

2 lines in the summer would be nice.
Nitrates in my well from the farmers concern me more than what we send to the gulf via the river.

I have contacted them about 2 lines. Based on their mission statement, a group like this should at least address the issue, especially when 70-80% of the anglers are in favor of a change it’s a perfect issue for them to at least address. As a paying founding member, I’m disappointed that I haven’t received a response from them. ☹

No need to be disappointed..

I think they forgot to put a response in their response.
A reply from my March 22nd 2019 email:
Hi Brian,
Thank you for contacting MN Fish! I apologize for the delay in responding.
We appreciate your email and want to let you know that MN-FISH opposes
lake access when orchestrated by lake associations. If in the
future, the DNR determines that access changes are needed, the details
will be worked out. Our concern is that anglers will be treated like
anybody else. As you already know, the Wright County plan is no more
and was not supported by DNR or MN-FISH.
If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.
Sincerely,
Tiffany

Well BK at least Tiffany took the time to incorporate your specific inquiry into her cut-and-paste madlib response
If they are at the ice show begging this weekend maybe somebody can report back on what they are doing.
They are-
MN-Fish @ StP. Ice Fishing Show!
Stop by the MN-Fish booth (Booth 351) and Arnesen’s (Booth 427)at the St. Paul Ice Fishing & Winter Sports Show on December 6-8, 2019. Arnesen’s Rocky Point Resort (Booth 427) has donated a great drawing for an Ice Fishing Trip for 4! … “This wonderful family resort on Lake of the Woods is amazing!”

U sew smart!
Ya, it worked a little too good. So I had to dummy it up a bit.
Long story
They are making progress!

I’ll give them a little credit today. I read through their email today and while not really accomplishing anything yet, they are at least letting us know what they are trying to work on. New hatcheries building and funding and a good chunk of money for launch repairs. I’m all for that. It all hinges on the politicians though.
But like I said, at least they are starting to actually communicate what they are working on.
Let’s just hope our politicians are willing to spend a little money.
It’s starting to become very clear that the only thing worse than a bunch of politicians arguing about what to do with our money is giving MORE money to ANOTHER group so THEY can have a seat at the table to argue about the same damn thing.
Meanwhile NOTHING gets done.
Not another dime from this guy, I’ve seen how politics work.
Epg if you want to donate to my son and I, we pick trash up any time we see it on the ice or boat.
As well as volunteer and do a big Chisago lake clean the lake up day.
I’ll even send you a picture lol
FYI –
Also – Doesn’t look like they are offering VIP this year.
Will The Gov Show?
My guess is no.
