Texas and Tennessee are overrun with liberals (mainly Californians) who are running to state-tax-free states because they are retiring or can work remotely.
The high property values of a California home allow them to move to TX and TN and purchase a very nice home with cash in the bank to boot.
Often these transplants then vote for more government control, spending, and taxes. Go figure.
