127% increase from the last time I renewed. I understand everything needs to increase over time but 127% is crazy.
I just got my renewal notice in the mail a couple days ago. Mine didn’t change. The total is $75.60 which is for 3 years. That’s $25.20/year. I feel as though that’s pretty dang reasonble to own a fishing boat here. I’d pay more if they charged more.
Mine didn’t change a dime for either the tritoon or the fishing boat. My only concern is how I can manage to make the stickers last 3 years. The ones on the boat barely made it and were about to fall off.
I think its Missouri that puts boats on personal property taxes. Maybe Arkansas too.
Prices went up last year for watercraft. Anywhere from 100-150%. Kayaks didn’t go up that much. Wait until you do a pontoon or jet ski though you will notice it there for sure.

The card I got in the mail was the exact same price for a 23′ tritoon. Hopefully that’s accurate. I guess I haven’t went online to formally pay it yet. The postcard could be wrong
Prices went up in Dec of 2023.
17-19ft went up 119%
19-26ftwent up 151%
Dumb question, newer boat owner here. I also got my renewal card a few days ago. Is this the year to renew for every boat owner in the state, or is every 3 year period dependent on when the boat is originally registered?
Just owners that renewal is up

I just looked and I paid $129.60. I have no idea what I paid last time. Man that is like 15 crankbaits that I can’t buy now.
18 years of the same prices was a pretty good run I guess.
amen
It’s expensive giving our land and money away.

How anyone could defend a %150 increase in price on anything in a one year period baffles me.

Guess I didn’t realize that it had stayed level for 18 years.
Over time, a 150% increase over the span of 18 years is an 8.3% increase each year.

Its a 3 year renewal from when it was renewed if you skip then 3 years starts the next year you do a renewal.
When I got new registration for the Grady I raised an eyebrow.
I’m good with it if it’s really spent on what the AI overview says it’s used for.
If a single dollar is spent elsewhere, then I’m not…
I’d love for the DNR to publish new improvements that weren’t possible without the increase, but I think I’d die holding my breath before that ever happened.

Which crushes the average inflation rate from then till now
It’s fine, it’s fine, everything is fine.
I am in favor of where the funds are going and its a drop in the bucket to the cost of boat ownership. I think many times people on this forum have expressed a desire for increase in enforcement of fish and game laws, even more so with the increased popularity in wake boats and the damage they cause to shorelines. When money is raised to accomplish said goal, they lose their minds.
The price went up $13 a year for 19′ and larger boats and $3 a year for 17-19′ boats if my math is correct. Seems pretty cheap as long as accesses are fixed.

So does the money go to enforcement or just into the black hole of the DNR?

A.I had to get replacement tabs last year as mine were peeling off too. Was like $20 so I didn’t squat too much.
B. $3 per year for my boat is cheap.. No problem w that
C. Black hole of DNR and state. They are projecting a 5 billion shortfall for 2028. Prepping for it now.
MN state park pass and boat tags are still the best deal on anything in the state.
Do you guys typically keep your pitchforks right next to the keyboard or do you have to run out to the barn every time you get riled up? And if it’s the latter aren’t you exhausted yet?
Mine was $75. I bet it has a lot to do with what county you guys are in. Throw a rock over the river from me into Benton county and taxes are way higher.
I wonder if age of the boat factors into the registration price similar to a vehicle. I just payed for my boat and it was $75 (2005 17.5ft boat), but I honestly can not remember how much it was 3 years ago. My canoe was $40.
My 91 1660 was still $53 so I think it is based on length only.

There are around 800,000 registered boats in Minnesota and look at the price increase per boat. I have not seen many improvements so where is all the money going ? Most of the boat access’s were built in the 60s so its not there and stocking has not changed all that much.
