DNR NEWS – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb. 23, 2015

2014 fish, game and trapping licenses expire Feb. 28

Anglers are reminded that 2014 fish, game and trapping licenses expire on Saturday, Feb. 28. Some hunting and fishing seasons continue past Feb. 28, and new licenses are required.

Licenses for 2015 now are available from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources license agents, online at http://www.mndnr.gov/buyalicense and by telephone at 888-665-4236. All 2015 fishing licenses become effective Sunday, March 1.

Customers who purchase online via smartphone won’t receive a conventional paper license. Instead, they’ll receive a text message or email that serves as proof of a valid fish or game license to state conservation officers. A printed copy of the text or email also can serve as proof of a valid license.

Ice shelter permits for 2014 remain effective through Thursday, April 30.

“PSA is a protein produced in the prostate, a small gland that sits below a man’s bladder. PSA is mostly found in semen, ”

    Lord I hope not!!

It’s also a “public service announcement” for some of us… but thanks for the biology and physiology lesson.

I thought the date was pushed back a few years ago. I know it was printed wrong on the license for several years. I took a look and the Regulation book does say End of Feb. I thought they wanted to move the renewal date closer to the opener so that people would be more likely to spend money on tackle at the time of purchasing their new license. Not much chance of that If I walk in to get a license at the end of Feb. with the opener 2 1/2 months away I’m not even thinking of summer tackle at the end of Feb. Thanks for the reminder. I thought it was in April

It was changed back last year. The DNR indicated the whole April thing was a mess up by the legislature. Just repeating what I was told.

Most people wait until May either way. The 30 days before and after the wallabi season opens was the busiest time if I recall.

Now with the on line purchase of a fishing license, there isn’t a need to go into a store sadly. Printing out a number of licenses is free and there isn’t a reason to not have a copy in your boat, car/truck, garage, wallet AND the FW’s purse. )

Long as we’re talking about licenses… don’t for get to get your new boat registration sticker on. Mine is sitting on my desk in front of my computer waiting for a warm(er) day to stuck it.

About the boat Registration sticker. Is this something you normally receive notice of or is it up to you to notice it. I believe that I’m due for a new sticker this year ( Boat in storage 150 miles away – Registration printout is in the boat storage ) I have not received anything in the mail that I am aware of.

A notice was mailed to me.

Might be able to check on line at the DMV website. That’s where I paid for mine. The sticker was then mailed.

Ditto. Now mine has been sitting on the fridge since about October, taunting me.

    They’re union in Tennessee.

I any business is going to go under from me not giving them my .50 they have larger problems. I might get gas…but I do that anyway when I buy my on line license and I don’t have to worry about paying for a copy if I would ever need to.

I heard you don’t need a trapping license if you only do “catch and release”
