Went down below today for three hours. Absolutely killed them. The three of us caught 15, lost several more. 90% walleyes, 10% saugers. All were fat, all were over 15″. Caught one that weighed 4.5. It looked like it had a 5 pound carp in its belly. Of the 15, 6 were over 20″. Those were all released, including the 4.5 pounder. We kept five total out of the 15. The one’s kept were in the 15 to 16 ” range.
I am excited, because most of the guys around here chuckled when we said we were going fishing today. They thought we would be eating the wind and cold. It wasn’t bad at all.
Get there and throw some back. The walleye God’s will smile upon you. Trust me.
All the years of scraping by on some 14″s and a pile of cigars, it looks like Gavin’s Point is turning into a heck of a fishery.
