Well Wade I sent my entry off yesterday. Fish’n has been tough compaired to other years but with the payouts the SiouxCity boys offer I think I can cover the cost of the entry and I’d have gone fish’n someplace anyway. I just as well take a chance on winning a little money. Don’t know if you’ve fished it before but with the steakfry Saturday night, their send off Sunday morning, along with food and refreshments after the tournament I’ve never gotten as much for my money anyplace else. Anybody not having a good time just isn’t trying.

I called yesterday before I sent off the entry and Phil said he’d be sending out something for the entrants. The information you were expecting should still be coming. He did say Happy Hour starts at 5:00 with dinner at 6:00 at the Marina Inn right across the river from the casino. We’ll see ya there.

Is that this weekend, I’m not a bass guy, and I don’t have much info fo you, but the river level is just a bit lower than last year, even though they are not releasing much water from the dams. I’ll try to make the weigh ins though.

Lots of info on the tournament at their web site http://www.bassaction.com but its August 26th not this weekend. I don’t keep track of the water level year to year but have been up there on the water the last 2 weekends from Yankton to Ponca. There was water to run it all the way from what I saw last Sunday. Don’t know what they’ve forcast for the next 2weeks though so just have to wait and see what there for the tournament.

Fluff, It’s good to see you’re going to fish the tourney. I have never fished it before, so I’m looking forward to this new experience. I haven’t spent nearly enough time on the river this year but I hope to get a little time on the water before the tourney.

It’ll be nice to see some other IDA members there. I look forward to meeting you at the dinner!

So would it be safe to assume there will be plenty of water in the river this weekend. I was up there several weeks ago and the water was up a foot or so from the tournament last year. It looks like a lot of rain has fallen this week. If the water is rising keep it safe out there. There is a good chance of a lot of debris floating downstream.

    Jason,

All this rain may have the opposite effect if they shut the dam off to help with flooding down stream. Anybody up that way know if the river between Yankton and SiouxCity is up or down from the rain? If the James and Vermillion rivers are running high? If Gavins is shut’n down or to full to hold anymore back?

I spoke to the folks at Captain Norm’s Bait Shop and they said it was running “about the same”. It’s running pretty steady at Ponca:

At least that report is encouraging, here’s hope’n it holds through Sunday. Another guy I talked to thought they’d shut down Gavins as much as possible with the flooding. Maybe he was wrong.
