I want to target pike this spring on pool 13 of the Mississippi and was wondering where they like to hang out on cooler water. I was going to try shallowish lake areas where I have seen them while ice fishing but also wondered if they would be in some side channels or to keep out of the current where there was a little warmer water. Also if anyone has targeted them what was a good lure, I was going to try silver minnows and lighter bucktails to run them a little slower I also thought about trolling some floating rapalas before the weeds start growing. Thanks in advance.

Find warm water. Backwaters are your best bet.

I’d be out there right now in the backwaters throwing a 1/2 or 5/8lack/red spinnerbait to start. Maybe white or Chartreuse too, but black/red for certain. I’d look for wood laydowns on mud flats you’d see generally during normal pool.
