Wondering who here has fished the Mississippi north of Brainerd. I got out a couple of times last summer in the Crosby area but did not have much success. Planning on doing a decent bit of fishing out there this spring and summer for some walleye and Musky if I can find them. Does anyone know much about crappie fishing in early spring on the river? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have only found a few crappies in the river up that way. Just a couple of Muskies to. I fish more over towards Aitkin. Plenty of walleyes, smallmouth and channel cats.

Look for small bays and backwaters that warm up quickly.

Usually I launch from little rabbit then out to the river I drive.

Thank you. How deep is the river by Aitken? Anything I need to worry about with a 17.5 ft boat?

Yes. The shallow stuff and plenty of logs. Take it slow til you learn the river. The bends are typically deep, straight aways not so much.
