I have lived in NW Wisconsin all my life, this morning I had dead mayfly’s all over the apron in front of my garage, I don’t remember ever seeing that before.

Last night was the first night on the river where I really started noticing any kind of bugs – also in La Crosse. Maybe this torrential downpour we are supposed to get today/tonight will get rid of them as fast as they appeared.

They come in cycles. 2 weeks ago just before a storm blew me off Pepin, my boat was covered with thousands of em. Hope this rain and wind washes them out as quick as they arrive.

We were on the pool 4 backwaters this morning and saw no evidence of a hatch. Crappies, northerns and white bass were willing participants today. Bass would swing and miss so can’t say we caught any but saw a lot of them.

I’m not sure which day it was, they have all blended together but on the pool around La Crosse there was streams of husks for miles.

Still evidence of them this morning.

Only saw a few live ones on the boat in the mornings though.
