So I grew up on the east side of the state and have never fished the Mississippi River before. It looks like there are great opportunities for panfish, especially in places that are hard to get to so I am on a mission to try it out this year and see what I can learn.
I realize that panfisherman are probably more tight lipped than any human being on earth but I think my first question is basic enough that I’m hoping someone will chime in. Most of the information I have found so far seems to focus on the La Crosse area (or just above) and below. Is the fishing better down there or are there opportunities farther north? I live in Ladysmith, so shaving some driving, especially on those roads that don’t go straight for more than ten feet would be nice.
I’m not looking for anyone’s secret hotspot, just curious if it pays to start closer to home or just head south.
Thanks.
