Two of my oldest friends are hunting elk out in Wyoming this week. Dan got lucky enough to shoot his first bull ever with a bow. Pic is not great and I don’t know any details. Will get those today. Congrats Dan!!

Story is… It’s been very warm in eastern Wyoming, much like here. So the boys have been sitting over wallows primarily in the evenings. This night Dan was about 20 yards from the wallow. He had envisioned when he would draw etc… However, instead of the elk walking in like he had planned, they came busting down the ridge in the exact right spot. 5 cows on this 5 point. As they neared the wallow Dan drew. The elk stepped out from behind the tree and he whacked him at a mere 20 yards. The elk was 69 yards from Dan when he tipped over. All 5 cows standing over him wondering what was wrong. They sat still until dark because a much bigger bull was bugling up on the ridge. He never did come in.

When I talked to them yesterday, they headed back up the mountain to try and find Johnny an elk.
