Just grabbed this off the MT website….

With the passage of voter Initiative 161 in November 2010, the cost for Montana’s 2011 Nonresident Big Game and Deer Combination licenses will increase. Under the new voter-approved law, the following changes go into effect March 1, 2011:

•Outfitter Sponsored Variable Priced licenses, also known as the Outfitter Guaranteed licenses are no longer available.
•Provides 17,000 Big Game Combination license and 4,600 Deer Combination licenses to nonresidents via a general application process.
•Increases the Nonresident Big Game Combination license fee from $643 to $912; and increases the Nonresident Deer Combination license fee from $343 to $542. Nonresident Elk Combination license sells for $812.
•Proceeds from the sale of these licenses are to fund wildlife habitat conservation and public hunting access programs.
The fee increases only apply to Nonresident Combination licenses. Deer B, Elk B, and Antelope licenses are not affected.

With more general licenses available in 2011, drawing odds are expected to be better than in past years. This year, there will be about 48 percent more Nonresident Big Game Combination licenses and 100 percent more Deer Combination licenses available by general application.

The Big Game Combination license includes Montana’s Conservation license, and licenses to hunt elk, deer, and upland game birds. It also includes a Montana Fishing license.

The Deer Combination license includes Montana’s Conservation license, and licenses to hunt deer and upland game birds. It also includes a Montana Fishing license.

The Elk Combination license includes Montana’s Conservation license, and licenses to hunt upland game birds. It also includes a Montana Fishing license.

Yea the increase really stinks, but montana has been the best deal in the west for sometime. $640 for a deer and an elk was a steel considering the price in many other states out there. Not to mention you got a fishing license and upland game too. This year might be the first year in 15 years that I don’t apply. $900 is alot to spend if you don’t draw the permit for the area you want to hunt. In 2012 they are talking about having the permit draw and the license draw at the same time wich should have been done years ago like the rest of the west. Besides, I have a lot of pp for colorado burning a hole in my pocket.

As of last draw I have 15. So a few options but still not enough for the great units.

Yep, kind of the high end of no man’s land/bottom side of the great draws. With that many, you can’t just burn them!
