MinnKota Vantage – Shaft Length?

    Hi All,

I have a ’98 Warrior Eagle V177 and just bought a used Vantage to stick on the back of it. In my research I have become fully aware of the issues with the Vantage and the deploy/retract motor. I got this cheap enough that I thought it was worth a shot.

My question is this: how long should the shaft be when deployed? When I deploy mine and start back trolling I am bubbling water up to the surface if I get even above 3-4 on the dial. This is not efficient and is pretty annoying. Does anyone have one of these on one of the older Warriors? Do you have the same issue? Any fixes?

    Thanks

When deployed it should extend quite a ways below the water line. You can ajust it up or down at the mounting bracket. Make sure it stows completely when running the big motor. You can go on line to Minnkota.com and look up the mounting instructions under support. It will tell you how high to mount it.

Man do I feel stupid! Yes, the adjustment right on the mounting bracket was the ticket!

Don’t feel stupid, you should see some of the stuff I’ve done in my 69 years.
