Minnkota ulterra, i-pilot link remote, heading sensor

Got the new boat on the water today for initial break in. After that started working on setting up the new ulterra, remote, heading sensor. Managed to get the i-pilot link remote paired with the trolling motor, but struggled with the heading sensor pairing. Each time I tried it stopped recognizing the remote. Do I need to do this in a certain order? Also, in the system settings on the remote I didnt see the “calibrate” option. Maybe because it hasnt paired with the heading sensor yet?

Watch the you tube video walk through. Guessing you can’t calibrate due to it not being linked so there’s nothing to calibrate. I have the new terrova and it was a breeze. I watched a very insightful YouTube video that showed me way more then I’ll ever remember when it came to functions

It won’t calibrate unless it’s paired with the heading sensor . I just went through this with a bad heading sensor . Make sure you’re heading sensor isn’t picking up any interference. Minn Kota customer support was also pretty good when I used it.

Are you sure the heading sensor has power?

When it has power, I believe it blinks blue.

Heading sensor has power, blinks blue. I’ll give Minnkota support a call today. Bearcat, I watched a few youtube vids on this but will try to locate one with more clear instructions.

I’m not normally a update to the newest software guy, but have you checked the software version it is running? I can almost guarantee that will be one of the first questions Humminbird/MinnKota ask.

Went to the boat over lunch, turned on master power, plugged in and powered up the trolling motor, powered on the ulterra remote…and the heading sensor was paired so the Calibrate and offset options were showing. Not sure what I did or happened, maybe it paired while on the water but needed to be reset to see everything? Well…hopefully that takes care of it.
