anyone seen the Ulterra with link in stores yet. I don’t think they are out yet.
There is a few places that have gotten 1 or 2. The majority of marine distributors have not gotten them yet.
I do not suppose someone could upgrade their Terrova to a Ulterra? (like with a kit)
I purchased a Terrova ipilot link with the US2 2 years ago. I like what I see in the Ulterra.
I loved my Genesis. The auto deploy and stow were fantastic. So much so that I can’t believe I traded it in for the Terova with I pilot. But now there appears to be one motor that does it all. Cannot wait to get my hands on one of these.
Wait…. The cost how much?
My Genesis was $1800 back in 2002.
The Ulterra looks like $2300 today.
I guess the grand baby can survive for a few more years without my support. Let’s go fishing.
@dog2th
Even though I knew of only 3 people locally that had the Genesis, none had any issues that I ever heard of. Two of these guys I have spoke with in the last 10 days to confirm it.
With that said, I can’t believe that the makers @ Minnkota would ever head down that trail again with some of the latest technology built into it’s past lessons learned.
I have maybe Blind Faith in the new product before I can see it.
Hummm, I think there is a name of a rock and roll group that could be inserted here.
Anybody got any input at all on this for the stow and deploy function?
I already have a 101 Terrova w/ the link system and am giving thought to switching.
I think this will be a great motor with a lot of power especially if you go with the 36volt 112. We have had numerous people pre-order these and now we’re just waiting for the to be released from Minn Kota.
The one concern I would have thought is from what I can find the remotes only have a range of 30′. This will work great while on the boat but the Minn Kota commercial has a guy launching the boat then sending it out and spot locking it while he parks his truck. You would only be able to put the boat out 30′ in the water and also have it out of the way for others to launch and still be able to get it to the dock to board.
The Minn Kota website does not specifically discuss the remote range for the Ulterra, so I think we’re all hoping they have increased the range to 100′ minimum.
Was going to order one with my new boat but the dealer has had one on order since February that a customer needs by June 1 and one since March and does not know when they will be available. They have already been hearing about problems with the ones that are out there in real fishing conditions. I am going with the Terrova 80lb with the I-Pilot Link for now and will give it a year or two for them to work out the bugs.
I picked up mine today.
Going to be a while till I can check it out.
I have the new 36 volt 112 lb thrust Motor Minn kota Ulterra the 2nd time on the lake it will not deploy with remote or foot control. Is anyone else having problems with this.I am a guide and can’t use something not dependable head back to Alabama trolling motor in the morning to see what’s going on!!
The ONLY thing I don’t like about mine is you have to turn it on at the unit, if I could turn it on at the screen it would be perfect.
I’ve had mine since mid June and haven’t had any issues. (knock on wood)
Did u get the quick release mounting plate on yours? And it want stay in place with out the lock or a clip on it.
Denny O how do you like your ULTERRA? I ordered my new boat Friday with one on it.
IT works well as it was designed. I have no idea if the peddle works cause I have never hooked it up, lol.
Yes I got quick release bracket and I would say it is a must on the auto deploy trolling motor’s. To keep your motor from hanging on the roller on front of trailer, it sticks out a little more. Oh the Helix7 is not compatible with the transducer in trolling motor. Not even sonar will work right.
Also the trolling motor worked great the 1st time I used it the second time the remote went bad would not deploy. I didn’t get the foot paddle in right mode to work but I know now. Printed out the book read it 3 times.I guide on the Coosa River on 3 lakes so it will get a work out this year! Crappie stripe and spotted bass on live bait. Thanks Jerry
i have gone threw two remotes. Also i have found out if you hit something to hard or a wave come along and your motor hits bottom it will jam and will not go up or down. What i have found out is if you go push or pull on motor it will unjam and starting working again.
