So working on rigging a new to me boat and wondering what the advantage is to having the Mega Down Imaging built into the universal sonar on the trolling motor. I’m going to put a Terrova on and utilize I PILOT Link with a helix with mega side and down imaging (will only have one helix for now due to budget constraints but intend to add another later if I see a “need” for it) . This will be my first setup with Universal Sonar, Ipilot Link, and a helix for that matter. Does the helix use the trolling motor as a transducer whenever the terrova is on the water or can you switch between the transom transducer and the motor at will? The boat has a newer Hook 7 chirp DI on it and I am undecided if I want to try to utilize that unit still and how I would use it? Maybe run down imaging on that and then side image on the helix simultaneously?
Is the advantage of using the trolling motor sonar that the down imaging picks up what’s under the bow of the boat or is there more to it than that?
