Why are the new Minnkota trolling motors coming without pedals now? Do people tend to just use the remotes now? Is there any issues not having the foot pedals? Can you add the pedal later on if you want? Thanks in advance!

Most models still come with a pedal as far as I’m aware. I’m a foot pedal guy because I prefer to use both hands when fishing.

That’s how I feel too. I was looking at upgrading to a terrova and seen the model I was looking at available without one, could save almost $400.

I bought a new terrova last year and didn’t know about an option for without. The only time I use it is the rare time I Bass fish. For walleye I never use it.

I think the only models that do not come with a foot pedal are the Power Drives with iPilot equipped. Reason being is that iPilot installed on a Power Drives does not allow the use of a foot pedal, as well as with the remote (not the case with Terrovas). So if you’re buying a Power Drive with iPilot, there is no sense with including a foot pedal because it won’t work anyway.

You can get the terrova 55 without the pedal too. Must be a new setup for this year.

I have a new 24v Terrova and it came with the pedal. It sits in the same compartment that the pedal from my prior Terrova used to sit in. It never gets used….but its nice to have a back-up in case my remote goes bad.
