Yes. All minkota remotes are like that. when battery goes bad just throw away and buy a new one.

I know plenty of people and fished in their boat with the generation prior to 2017 (gen 2??) and they all seem frustrated. I have the version that came out in 17 and have to say I have been really happy with it. I had one issue with my link, but that resolved with a software update and was solid for the second half the summer.

I did replace the remote battery, still nothing? It works fine with the foot control. I will try another battery.

Co pilot or Auto pilot? I have a co pilot well over 10 years old, no problems, original battery.

That should be good til you need a new battery. Do not even open it up to check on the battery or it will be junk.

When it had a mind of its own, did the head spin around in circles? When mine started doing that it was the internal compass. It was about a $300 fix.

No, Just erratic, kind of jerky. I did replace the battery in the remote, I probably junked it . I don’t know why a big company would market a product that if a person replaced the battery as per instructed, that it would destroy it? Just Say’n. I wonder if the have an up-grade ?
